A better way to put the question is would you bet $100,000 at the likely odds, let's say 50-1. That means you would risk $100,000 to possibly win $2,000.

On balance, I don't think so. Too many things could go wrong. I would be risking a lot of money for a relatively small reward.

I think I would be more tempted, and I'm saying tempted, to put a couple of thousand on Galento at 50-1 odds. I could afford to lose that much, and there would be a real payoff if lightning happened to strike.

A real good question is whom would you bet on in a Mike Tyson-Max Baer fight given that Tyson would probably be the top heavy favorite?

I'm not sure Galento could even make it past the first 2 rounds against Tyson of the Hoylfield fights.

Assuming we can somehow make sure no freak accidents occur like a head butt leading to a stoppage or someone spraining an ankle, etc, yes I would bet my life the best version of Tyson wins. Tyson could roll out bed without breakfast and no training camp and he's probably knock him out early.

 

Galento probably only got as deep as he did with Louis because he trolled him.

Nah, of course not…but I would certainly make a sizable wager with a high level of confidence. I just doubt the odds would lend a good payout.
