Didn't geriatric Hopkins win the WBC Light Heavyweight title 3 years after the Calzaghe defeat, and then separately win the WBA and IBF light heavyweight straps 6 years after being beaten by Calzaghe? Definitely past it when he fought Calzaghe then.
Crazy thing is no one in the Boxing industry then or even now bring that up about Ward, just goes to show the Bias when talking about certain fighters compared to others they like to smear every change they get, seems like no one is willing to crack that egg, They still purposely overlook that aspect about his whole Career, very strange indeed.
Yes. He was past it and had which if I recall something to do with a thyroid? And titles are also a dime a dozen these days so who cares.
Guess it would depend on if it was prime healthy Calzaghe or not People don't realize that Calzaghe was older when he fought Lacy than what Ward was when he retired, in fact Calzaghe was older in his previous fight to that. Prime healthy Calzaghe would I think win every round before ended the fight inside the distance, but I think with worst Calzaghe, Ward may win somewhere between 2-4 rounds maybe
Close fight, Calzaghe a master at adapting and finding a way, I think a prime Calzaghe takes a 7-5 / 8-4 type of decision.
Close fight either way only haters and people who don't know boxing think this fight is a blow out for either fighter.
I'd prolly go with Calzaghe but of course Ward is good enough to win some rounds in an interesting fight.......kessler did and Ward is a level above him.
