Joshua, who basically got slapped by Usyk, if he'd faced Holyfield of the Douglas ft, gets brutally battered.

I don't believe he'd see the end bell.

    Yay or nay??

absolutely, Mike Tyson has called AJ out on telegraphing his punches, Holyfield would school him, the reason he telegraphs is because of the way he trains with those resistance bands they condition his muscle memory to pull back or "load" his punches, guys like Tyson and Holyfield weren't looking at their opponents' eyes they were looking at the area where there is a muscle twitch at the beginning of a punch, if the guy loads the punch or is feinting at all it's just more time for them to land

it's like Teddy Atlas said...he would be a piranha in the tank with a shark

It would be over fairly quickly.

A relatively easy night's work for Holyfield.

Actually Holyfield when he first started out at Heavyweight, might be in a bit of trouble vs Joshua. Holyfield was getting rocked and going to war with the likes of Cooper, Dokes, Stewart. And if Holyfield does that against a puncher vs Joshua, who is alot bigger than him he could be in serious trouble.

Usyk is also a better boxer than Holyfield, and has a better defence. Now I'm not saying Joshua necessarily wins, I'd make Holyfield the favourite. But Joshua would have his moments, especially against the early Heavyweight version of Holyfield. Who got hit alot and went to war when it wasn't always in his best interest.

Its debatable for sure but I'd say Usyk Is a better pure boxer than Holyfield, although I would say Holyfield is maybe a better all rounder than Usyk.

Joshua has had a better career though definitely, although had Joshua had Bruno's opposition he probably would of lost to Bonecrusher, Witherspoon, Tyson x2, Lewis, aswell.

    I go nay here.

Usyk beat AJ with his feet, by staying light, presenting angles, making AJ turn and catching him out of stance and out of balance. He dissected AJ's style and essentially outboxed him.

Holyfield came to fight, to knock your block off.

Now, I'm not saying that he couldn't do it to AJ, but Joshua would be much much more comfortable with Holyfield, because Holyfield is playing the same game he is. AJ couldn't get his power to stick to Usyk. He WOULD be able to get his power to stick to Holyfield because Holyfield was the kind of fighter that would give him the chance to ... because he wanted to exchange.

That's one of the reasons why Holy was so exciting, and also the reason why he struggled in the fights that he struggled at heavyweight.

Holy didn't respect the size advantage of his opponents. That's why a guy like Bowe was able to beat a (imho) better fighter than himself in Holyfield. Evander let Bowe maximise his size advantage and AJ is bigger and hits harder than Bowe.

People are not thinking this through.

I can see how you are attempting to close the gap here, but the problem, as far as I can see, is that there's a considerable gulf in class between the two. Joshua's 'skill' has been found wanting (unless he's boxing an even fatter Ruiz, on the outside). He is ponderous and tentative, when taking his patient out-boxer approach. He telegraphs almost everything he throws, which to an opponent with speed, reflexes and the know-how to capitalize on the situation (Holyfield), makes for an easy night for them.

That said, I think it is reasonable to assume that Holyfield would engage; seek to close the gap, to land combinations. He wouldn't dance around with Joshua and potshot. Holyfield would make this a short-range affair and unfortunately, up close, Joshua would be paneled since his short-range game is almost non-existent (unlike Bowe, who was able to take the play away from Holyfield in the mid-to-short-range arena).

A Holyfield moving up might have been on the small side, but he was a seasoned professional by then. Joshua has never been in the kind of crucibles that Holyfield fought in. Combine his experience with his superior engine, workrate, speed, overall toughness and I think Joshua is seriously up against it - to the extent that I think it more likely that he is shocked and stunned into being stopped early.

Holyfields sheer aggression and work rate would have Joshua out of there in Five rounds, and that is being generous, the man was relentless.

I'd say, personally I see lasting longer than Douglas Against EH, but not as long as Foreman or Holmes.
Even tho this wasn't the '' Huge Holyfield '' of the mid 90 s, I still see him being good enough to rip the snot out of AJ.

Yes, he takes his lumps, he generally always did, but those shots that George had ripping in to him, actually stop the man in front of him.

People will say that Holyfield is the more natural fighter, with the bigger heart and the better rythmn. That Joshua looks kind of stiff sometimes, and not as light on his feet. That Holyfield is certainly better P4P.

All that is true. But AJ is not that slow - maybe even fast for a heavyweight - and that he has naturally heavy hands.
