Bro as it stands, he's already being called Bam Bam more than he's being called Bam. If I didn't say anything, you'd still be calling him Bam Bam. So now you're going to keep calling him the wrong name to spite me lol? You were already calling him that lol. The difference is now you know he's Bam, so you have no excuse anymore to get it wrong. And if you keep calling him Bam Bam now that you know, I'll be personally offended by it.
Well they're both trained by Robert Garcia. In fact, Bam and many of the fighters in Robert's boxing academy looked up to Rios as a mentor. That's gotta be where Jesse got his nickname from, from Rios but with the caveat that only needs ONE "Bam" instead of Rios who needed two Bam's because Bam Bam wasn't as skilled as Jesse. Rios didn't have the defense or the skills to make people miss like Jesse, so Rios needed to hit 2X as much to do what Jesse can do. You calling him Bam Bam is like totally missing the point and the origin and purpose behind the nickname. Jesse is Bam as a nod to his mentor Rios but also as a way to say he's much more skilled than Bam Bam, he don't get hit like Bam Bam did so he only needs one Bam to do what Rios did.

Remember what happened to Ernie, he got beaten to a bloody pulp for saying his name wrong intentionally and during the beating, Ernie ended up whispering the name of Ali. My guess is that Jesse is called bam, probably having to do with John Michael Johnson, another San antonio native who became world champ, whose nickname was “bam bam”.
