He didn't need a lot to put him down though. Max was a very powerful puncher, you don't need to be giant muscular man to punch hard. I view them in similar tier. Louis got dropped a bit more, but he was far more agressive than Holmes and worked within smaller margins of error.
Understand that calling Joe Louis "the bronze bomber", could be considered an insult! I understand that most of his monikers were insults, but at least he owned those!
Without looking it up I'd say 6. Isaac Shavers Snipes Tyson x3 . 38 out of the ring for nearly 2 years Did Weaver floor him can't remember ?
But not similar circumstances. Take out 38 years old Holmes abortive comeback for $$$ and we have 3 kds versus 10! Of course this doesn't mean Larry wins against the most complete heavyweight I've seen.
Just FYI, Of Joe’s 10, 2 were incurred vs Marciano when Joe was 37 on the comeback himself $$$. It’s not often referenced but does anyone think Larry was legitimately knocked down a second time vs Shavers in round 9? It was ruled a slip.
I think I'm up to speed on Louis. Just FYI Joe was fighting regularly when eh faced Marciano having had 85rds of actual fights since beginning his comeback. Since his retirement on May 1st 1949 Louis had also engaged in 220rds of exhibitions. Between his retirement on19th of April 22nd and his comeback on Jan 1988 Holmes did nothing. Spot the difference??
No Louis was an active fighter who had just had 85rds of combat+220rds of Exhibitions .There is simply no comparison that can be logically made between them!
You also say in different threads that Louis had nothing left in Marciano fight. You really like cherry picking facts to make your point, don't you?
