I'm not taking anything away from Margarito; kudos to him. Cotto just couldn't hang long enough to capitalize on his wide points lead.

This is just a stopgap for any nonsense trying to diminish Cotto's dominant performance in the majority of the fight. Margarito broke him down, so again, all credit to him, don't let it be said I'm discrediting that - and true, Cotto couldn't handle it...but he won more rounds, and not just a couple more - and he won them clearly. :nod So let's not have any "Cotto didn't dominate ****", "Cotto can't box", "Margarito was walking him down and winning the whole entire fight" nonsense. Cool?

Official judge score had Margo up on 2 of the judges going into 11. had this been a 10 rnd fight margo still wins.

But it's pointless winning rounds, if at the same time you're sustaining a beating, a beating that will ultimately cost you the fight....

.....so talking about the scores at the time of stoppage is irrelevant.

    Cool?

(I think Margo was level after 10 anyway)

let them try to justify, it's not easy to live down all the " I'm the boxing expert and you all don't know ****" talk that was going on before the fight.

Cotto was winning early, no question. Winning late into the fight, but Margarito just applied so much pressure. Amazing fight.

Edit: This is why Championship fights go on so long. They test a fighter in every capacity.

Seriously though, it was a great fight. Cotto is amazing -- the hard, clean shots he was throwing even when hurt would have knocked out most.

But Margarito ain't most. Amazing guts, pressure and will victory for Margarito.

Irrelevant. The last 2 rounds are called "champion rounds" for a reason.

I don't know that Cotto would've necessarily won it if it were 10 rounds. Prety dumb point to bring up. Besides, it took Margo 11 rounds to wear down and finish Cotto while still giving away that 1st round. Had it been scheduled for only 10, Margo might have started hacking away at Cotto that very 1st round and still stopped Cotto inside the limit if the fight went like it did here.

All I'm saying is, don't diminish Cotto's performance and try to act like he didn't put quality work in for ten rounds. That was the CLEAR unmistakable spirit of this thread, if you want to twist it around or intentionally misinterpret it, well too ****ing bad and **** you.

    Props to Tony, again.
