Does the Jack Johnson story count as a concerted conspiracy against him? Crossing state lines with women or something, he had to flee to Europe...

 

The funniest one was Roger Mayweather's "A-side meth" use by Pacquiao. (there is historical context behind it but roger is conflating facts from WWII era)

Yeah, I think the damage to Margarito's reputation is done for a while. It would take a well-constructed documentary or something like it to alter a lot of people's perceptions on the scandal.

I know the NYSAC looked into matters and said there was no cheating on Margarito's part for the first fight.

In regard to Pacquiao busting Margarito up, people love stories of redemption, so any notion of Margarito being damaged goods going into the rematch with Cotto are rebranded as a cheater not being as effective because he didn't have access to cheats. It's clear that two monumental whippings against Mosley and Pacquiao did take a lot out of Margarito, however. His eye was so badly damaged that it wasn't a given that the NYSAC was going to grant Margarito a license.

The one where they say (mainly @C.J.) that Margarito was framed by the CSAC that deemed his plaster blocks "harmless". Lol yeah ok, everybody knows Margarito was a proven cheat, he beat up a Prime Cotto, made a guys ear practically fall off from using plaster wraps in his gloves for who knows how long. Once he got caught he became an average fighter at best.
