Lewis clapping back at a fan that was saying that Tyson was over-the-hill when Lewis got to him. Would Lewis always be a bad styles match up for Tyson even if he fought him at his best?

As a general rule don't talk **** to chess players when they have time to consider their response. Lennox KO 1 here.

Imagine thinking I'm going to talk ---- to an atg in any sport. There are athletes I don't particularly like but I would never denigrate their achievements.

I think Lewis is a sensational fighter and amazing ATG for sure...but I think 80s Mike would have stopped him (Steward or not).

Mike had deceptively fast hands and I just don't see Lennox avoiding those for long. I realize guys like Briggs caught him flush a few times and he was still standing. But Mike hit just as hard as Rahman and McCall (probably at least a bit harder) and was faster than either.

    80s Mike in 5.

Not a fan of Lennox claiming everyone was ducking him. There's a lot that goes on outside the ring and behind closed doors when it comes to negotiating. It's more transparent now than ever before to the fair weather boxing fan.

    Those in the know...know.

Most legacies are built on beating past prime fighters or at least parts of them are. George Foreman is one of the exceptions to the rule. While some feel Joe Frazier was slipping when he fought George, he was still 29 years old and the undefeated champion. Ken Norton was a solid top contender in his prime. Michael Moorer was the undefeated linear champion. There are a few other examples but not many. Most ATG’s have gotten wins against diminished ATG’s

Tyson might have been shot, but this was the fight that the public wanted to see the most.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but there were plenty of people picking Tyson to win, including some who should have known better.

This fight was a huge deal at the time.

Lewis's critic makes the observation that this fight did little for Lewis's legacy, and the irony is that Lewis's legacy literally turned on this fight at the time.

It was the fight that finally shut up all the doubters.

Obviously we can never know what would have happened, if these two magnificent fighters had met in their respective primes, but I doubt that Tyson would blitzed Lewis, as some here are predicting.

Lewis had the key stylistic attributes, that Tyson always struggled with, and he would definitely have had a vote in that fight.

Sad to see posters -----ing on a genuinely good person and boxer. He's a great ambassador for the sport. He just can't fall asleep with Mike .

Tyson was past his best, but he wasn't shot when he and Lewis finally met.

    Lewis probably shot him, though.

not the boxing people with good memory & understandings of the boxers
Tyson was final proof to be done finish about when this Holyfield The Bite incident for sure . & this is when all persons in boxing know he is never coming back to top again. no chance. mind gone crazy & the aura professional destroyed for good. no way back for the knowledge of boxing fans . the game it is up. Holyfield the rematch was last realism chance of Tyson to establish.

only the casual general public fans without been follow the boxing. these who believer has him a real chance in Lewis fight.
it was they say " circus' already
    the Tyson circus.
    this is accurate.

but not Lewis's fault. is the big money where it is.

    No, in a word.

There were fighters and promotors picking Tyson.

That is how long his shadow loomed.

Many such people later picked Danny Williams to beat Vitally Klitschko, for no other reason than that he had beaten Tyson.

In other news, a young scamp named Manny Pacquiao, won the IBF junior featherweight title on the undercard.
