...would have to be Paul Williams. He beat Margo fair and square and wickedly avenged his loss to Quintana. Until they fight again, Paul Williams has to be the man. Williams may not be so lucky next time though...

Styles make fights. Cotto probally beats Williams, Sugar beats Margarito, Williams/Mosley is close but I think Williams grabs a close decision, etc. The top of the divison is so evenly matched right now and that is what makes it the best in boxing. I would say Margarito is the champ right now cause I had Cotto at #1 before this fight but you can make a case for Paul Williams. Remember though Cotto walked through Quintana the first time.

This is the biggest problem with the sanctioning bodies, **** them.

Williams is the man. Period. Don't see how this can be disputed.

It easily disputed, as Margarito beat the man, arguably becoming the man. And yes PW beat Margo, although Margo was by no means the man at that point.

So what your saying is that because Margo beat Cotto that his lost to Williams means nothing...So after Cotto wins his next fight then this win would mean nothing for Margo right:huh

Its obvious that a rematch is necessary between Margo/Williams for either to make the case. Don't know why others are wanting a Mosley/Margarito fight when this is the most logical fight out there

The winner of the rematch will be the welterweight king:deal

The first fight was hotly disputed. The rematch is a requirement here to find out who the best 147lber in the world is.

I hope there's a Williams/Marg rematch to finally settle all the debate. I can see an argument for both fighters being #1.

I agree. Williams defeated Margarito and avenged his loss to Quintana. If De La Hoya/Margarito does not come off - Williams/Margarito II is a must to determine the number one welterweight in the world.
