Lennox Lewis is the greatest HW of all time, there is nobody before or after him that can even come close. Fury can go on to be undisputed and he would still be behind Lewis, that’s hypothetical though as Usyk will ruin him
Wilder was rightfully criticized for the first few years of his WBC reign. His technique is visibly poor, he didn't have much quality on his resume, and the world hadn't seen him display his heart and will to win. The Povtekin fight fell through which isn't his fault, but he still lacked the name. Compare this to Wilder's last 6 fights. He's fought Fury x 3, Ortiz x 2. That's a helluva run. Even though he took losses in his last fights he came close to beating the consensus top guy and showed a lot of heart in doing so. His power is a huge factor even against a highly skilled boxer. Fighters gain credibility in losses all the time. Look at Vitali-Lewis, Vlad-Joshua. Wilder showed he's ready to die in there in the 3rd fight, and that means a lot when guessing at how he'd do against other fighters. Before Fury-Wilder III and Ruiz-Joshua I, who knew who had more heart between Joshua and Wilder? No one. We all know now.
The Povetkin fight falling through was his fault. He ducked for Pov failing a ped test and immediately fought Stiverne who just failed one.
I think he gives a wide variety of great heavyweights a problem because of his versatility. Emmanuel Steward said the same thing in rummys interview. There's no one you could say would definitely demolish him. Liston and Ali are the main heavyweights I would pick to beat him, other than its difficult to find any I'd favour over him. Whereas fighters like Tyson and even Ali have true cryptonite opponents through history.
When I comment on fantasy fights, I try my best to actually picture the participants at their best in my imagination, fighting. I do this as opposed to checking the records for who beat who (although that is always interesting, of course). Whenever I picture Lewis at his best, all I can see is a nightmare for any ATG that ever lived, and the surest bet I would ever make against anyone around today.
Sanders was never really in a position for a world title shot. But if you can substantiate that claim, would love to hear how.
You mean a old 40 year old Hasim Rahman ? Funny how you didn't mention that. It's also funny how a 40 year old Rahman would be about the age of Joshuas average opponent. You can't get your way around this one. Lewis's resume craps all over your favorite fighters
Aside from Sanders, he never tried to Fight Byrd. Both of whom were better than Kirk Johnson, whom Lewis was supposed to fight.
