This content is protected Really hope this is a sign of things to come, a few comments suggesting Eddie has little interest working with Boxxer. Refreshing hearing his comments though and this show with Warren is hopefully a sign of things to come between these two.
I do think that Ben is making an attempt to create working relationships with different promoters but he's going to have to initially hold a lot of olive branches out and maybe take the short end of the stick. The older promoters are stuck in their ways and will take some effort to bring them round to a new way of doing things.
Long overdue. At last, it would seem that ego's are being put to one side. Game Changed (but not as Hearn intended).
Yeah he dropped a few things where he said the rematch would be on Sky and about sharing the hits. If it means we get good fights then I'm all for it. Should Queensbury and Boxxer would closely together then its another bump in the road for Matchroom UK.
Joyce's manager This content is protected "we got a one way rematch clause" "listen you can interpret it two ways: you can go 'oh someone is concerned they'll lose', but boxing's a business. We've worked really really hard to get Joe where he is, and that's why we've taken out an insurance policy, and that's all it is"
ffs rematches for rankings are a joke. I imagine if this is a good fight and sells well they will run it back anyway.
I guess Hearn is partly to blame for opening up the door to this nonsense. The rematch clause for Whyte v Povetkin was not setting a good precedent, but back then you could somewhat understand it given Whyte was already mandatory and had been trying to get a title shot since 2018. But this one, as you say, just for a ranking? No thanks I'll still watch it though
I would normally agree - but... The winner of this isn't getting a WBO shot any time soon so why not run it back if they change places in contention? What would the next fight be for either of them?
Got completely cucked by Frank at the presser. Knows him and his guy are the B side here abd made no try to put a word in.
Going to reply to my own post (sorry) but there's a wider problem here... the notion that someone has a right to end up "undisputed" is the problem with boxing. To me, undisputed should be a status at a point in time, but not something you keep defending. Otherwise there's no point having the alphabet bodies in the first place. If someone must be undisputed, they need to fight 4 times a year - no voluntaries. Otherwise they let belts go, they had their achievement, and the bodies get on with their own rankings.
