Was the Andre the Giant vs Chuck Wepner fight a work or an actual fight?

To this day Wepner has always claimed it was a real fight between him and Andre.

I vote "fake." Wepner did all the pro wrestling gimmicks, turning his back to his opponent to argue with a fan at ringside and letting ATG "sneak" up on him and grab him. ATG did something I wouldn't have thought possible, he made CW look fast. Who would agree to a real fight while wearing boxing gloves? The gloves protect the hands when punching but if the other person grabs the glove wearer, the guy wearing the gloves can't grasp or use his hands. Another part that looked like WWF was when ATG had CW on his back and Wepner was able to slide across the ring and get his foot on the rope at the last second, ATG manager even argued that he scored a "pin." I'm surprised the ref didn't hit the canvas twice before CW could get his shoulder up before the 3 count.

It looked like a WWF work to me.

Heck, I think that Andre The Giant would have made a great tag team with Chuck Wepner as bouncers at the local Saloon.

Did Wepner throw a single punch to Andre’s head?

Yeah. Since it's a pro wrestling show, I would go with "work" unless proven otherwise.

    On the gloves issue, though...
