I agree. I haven’t seen any particular improvements in NUT defence since Golota’s own era. And I do mean NUT in more than just one sense.
Lower end of the top 10. Talented fighter but he didn't have the stuff to beat the best from any era.
He'd get in the rankings on his way up but I think it would end up looking largely the same. instead of bowe it would be AJ instead of Mike Tyson or Brewster it would be povetkin or hunter instead of Chris Byrd it would be usyk Instead of Lennox Lewis it would be wilder Except maybe vs hunter or Wilder I don't see him performing much better in this era than his own. He'd probably beat guys like Gerald Washington and Takam but, if the top guys are to be believed, mindset is just so crucial at that level and golota just was too unstable
I don't want to sound rude but AJ is a ****ing robot compared to bowe skill dif is BIG, AJ has fast hands a hits probably harder but they are pretty different Lennox lewis vastly superior boxer compared to wilder the same with mike tyson and other two
i think you are reading what i wrote as saying all these fighters are equally great which i'm not. i'm just saying i dont think Golota would fare better in this era. 1) it doesn't matter how much he's beating up AJ if he gets DQ'd for low blows 2) i just picked 2 guys i thought would spark Golota quickly i'm not saying Wilder = Lennox Lewis. 3) Tyson in 2000 was smoking weed during camp and fighting for a pay day. I would favor Povetkin over 2000 Tyson. I wasn't comparing Tyson to Hunter, i was comparing Hunter to Brewster and I think that's a fine comparison.
In terms of raw talent, he would be capable of breaking the top three. In practice he would probably find a way to lose the big ones.
As some have already said, more than likely the same as he was. A very good contender bt never able to get the big win, for what ever reason.
