It's kind of stupid people think this is such a great thing for women's boxing, but a lot of men's fights have had women on the undercard for a while now. There's no reason for all male or all female cards. They could have gotten more money, exposure and promoted women's boxing better on the Joshua/Usyk undercard. They LITERALLY would have gotten more attention doing this. But if they think this is so important for women's boxing go ahead I guess.
They literally couldnt have if you understand the business of boxing. Usyk and Joshua get the biggest pieces of the pie with no money for others. That’s not even taking into consideration the platform and promotional issues nor that that card is in Saudi Arabia where they reip women for being reiped.
I completely support putting the womens' sport on its own all-female bills. Let it sink or swim on its own merits. Let us all see what demand there really is. Unfortunately, it's not being done for the right reasons in this case and it won't become the norm. Men are banished from the supporting bill to what is being touted as a prestige womens' matchup, but this latterly established status quo of the womens' sport piggybacking off the mens' sport will continue unabated. The hypocrisy of affirmative action in full effect.
Fair enough, I didn't take into consideration the saudi arabian aspect of it. But even without the cash, there's the exposure. I think my point still stands, it doesn't have the Joshua/Usyk undercard, it could have been any of the bigger men's fights coming up taking place in the USA or UK.
THAT'S PERFECT!! Like that I can skip them all at once, and I dont have to split my fight night in 2 when the ****ing promoter tries to force me to watch 2 chicks trying to box and miserably failing in the middle of a saturday night event. They should ALWAYS do like that. ALL CHICKS, period. That way, those who like chicks boxing can watch it (whoever they are), and the rest of us can enjoy a normal fight night as we have ****ing always done until the woke ******s started to appear everywhere.
Nah. It s pro boxing or prizefighting. The exposure will probably be there anyway because of the 2 main events-point is the money has to be right and at least the 4 main eventers are getting that paper. Dont see how fighting on an undercard would help more. Taylor-Serrano was a main event and it worked. No need for undercards for the real fights.
"Don't see how being on an undercard would help more" Because a big men's fight will get more interest, and the fight will be therefore associated with a more popular event, thus more likely to get views as people often do watch the undercards to make sure they're getting their money's worth. I grew an appreciation for women's boxing when I saw women's fighters on men's boxing undercards or on the undercards of bigger fights in general. Will Shields vs Marshall even be PPV?
I would gladly pay a £1000 PPV for a... how shall we say.. a more non-family friendly version of Baumgardner vs Mayer
You're right, makes perfect sense. That being said, have you ever tried changing the mind of a determined woman? Forget it!!! Let them learn the hard way. LOL
I don't think women's fights come off well in close juxtaposition to a HW title fight. Kind of like how it's best to group flyweight fights together, once your eyes get used to a certain speed/size/force it looks silly to go down several notches. Plus Shields vs Marshall is a fight that's been debated for years now, it deserves its own night. This is the pinnacle of their careers.
