Can you imagine trying to pitch this to the BBBofC if they weren't called Benn and Eubank? "I've got a protected welterweight here who has never fought anybody. He's beat a few cherry picked past it names but that's about it. He's completely avoided all domestic competition and never even come within a sniff of a British title." "Well I'm going to put in him in with someone who got the the semi final of the Super 6 at super-middle weight. Sounds like a mismatch, right? Well don't worry, I'm making it at a catchweight in the hope that the bigger man is so dangerously weakened and drained that he can't perform." This fight is an absolute disgrace on all levels.
It's the money that will ensure that no-one involved in this fight will give a f**k how ridiculous it all is
I saw someone on Twitter compare this to Brook v Golovkin. Benn scoffed that Eubank is nowhere near golovkins level but I think personally he hasn’t taken into consideration that kell Brook is many many levels above young Conor himself. When you think about how poor Nick Blackwell ended up I personally think this is very reckless. I don’t like either fighter and won’t be watching. Just a way for the money men to push Dazn subs up. Load of tosh and I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t happen.
Experience, size and most important style would be key points in making a match (yes I deliberately didn’t mention money) and on that basis I can’t see how Benn can win ? Connor style is made to measure for Junior and pinning your hopes on a weight drained Eubanks is very questionable. The BBoBC are supposed to have strict guidance on weight making etc. which was brought in after Paul Ingles nearly losing his life allowing this match makes a mockery of their mandate to protect boxers.
This just makes me wonder who beat the **** out of Benn in sparring to make Hearn want to cash out, or maybe DAZN is just putting huge pressure on for a PPV.
I have defended EH and matchroom a few times on here as i fel sometimes there are posters who have a vendetta against them for being mainstream. However this is a joke on sooooo many levels, its dangerous for benns health and if he sonething twrrible happens there will be blood on Hearns hands imo. Also the how PPV is dead, then it was PPV is dead unless your a top guy like Canelo, now its ppv is dead unless your a prospect who hasnt fought a live opponent and if you have won a minor world title failed against top class opposition but you both have famous dads.
Hoping to see Baby Benn get a career ending whooping here, not dangerous levels obviously, but a beating that bad that it bursts this bull**** balloon and he scurries back down to where he belongs. He should be nowhere near Eubank Jr, his ego has been rising to dangerous levels for a while now and this hopefully crashes him back down to earth.
