Set up a fantasy fight that isn't just boring or bad in a conventional sense, but actively annoying to watch as a spectator.

You can use any refs, announcers, and fighters from history. The objective is creating a fight that makes you want to shout at the screen.

    Go.

I'm thinking something involving Cosell in full "Toronto 5" lecture mode about how terrible the fight is that he's being forced to watch, Jay Nady as ref screaming "NO HOLDING!" any time the two fighters get close to one another (as he did in Rahman/Maskaev), and Nasim Hamed as one of the fighters might make a good start.

Watching one now.......Don Jordan-Virgil Akins, with Don Dunphy as the announcer no less.

Might be the worst title fight I've seen.

My word. Someone finally agrees with me on Dunphy.

Unbearable. Hard on the eye and ear and no insight or seeming journalistic insight for my money. Cannot believe the rep he enjoys.

Completely agree. I can't understand the adulation for him either, it's very weird. What is it exactly that is so appealing, the nasal squawk of his delivery? The impression he gives that he just woke up three seconds before someone asked him to describe what he was seeing through some smoky haze?

The palpable air of bemused surprise he gives in his descriptions is teeth-grindingly awful. It's like he's trying to recall something that he can't quite remember from his youth.

I like Don Dunphy because he lets the viewer think for himself. The presentation is natural, more like you are at the fight live. I'm from a different generation. I don't tolerate all the bull**** modern-day viewers seem to crave. It's one of the reasons I don't watch boxing shows anymore.

My little one (almost 5) has had some great observations on boxing. "Why is that man punching the other man?! That's not nice! He needs to be put in timeout." "These guys need to learn to play nice." "Why aren't they punching the other guy?" (the ref). "Can we watch Octonauts instead?"

    Ah, kids.

I don't even watch modern boxing for all the silly histrionics, totally get that. I like the easier flow that two announcers gives, like Ryan and Clancy or Wallau and Dierdorf. They're professional and erudite, but fun to listen to at the same time.
