Won't happen, Buatsi is fighting Jean Pascal in a final eliminator for the WBA. If it did happen, Buatsi would win comfortably, Callum Johnson has looked poor in his previous fights and has pulled out of many scheduled fights on fight-week. I'd rather see the Pascal fight.
For the uneducated person here - what happens if someone bids and wins? Buatsi simply walks from the title to take his other chance?
Yeah if Buatsi refuses the fight and someone wins the purse bids, they move onto the next person in the next rankings. I think Dillian Whyte withdrew from the fight against Kubrat Pulev after the purse bids because the fight would have taken place in Bulgaria so he dropped down the IBF rankings.
I doubt Johnson fights again given his past injuries which have caused him to pull out of fights. Love the idea of this fight however.
It might not be as simple as that. Buatsi didn’t pull out of the bids, which indicates to me that he is keeping his options open. Pascal is still a very tough fight. Callum Johnson, if he makes it to the ring, is probably finished now - it could be easy money and I would imagine Warren bid a lot for it.
Didn't even realise this fight was on the cards. Great fight and credit to Qarren for winning. I've got feeling as Eddy has lost the bud he will get Buatsi to pull out fight Pascal instead. If Buatsi does fight Johnson I'd back buatsi to win in a entertaining fight.
Would love to see this fight but unfortunately don't see it happening. Both on different trajectories. Johnson carries so much power so brings danger but he's getting on, is picking up injuries and his career is unfortunately one big "what if".
I would have thought Buatsi is one of Hearn’s few UK tier 1 fighters and as such I don’t see him fighting on a Warren bill !
