You mean to say you don't think Joshua is a top 25 pound-for-pound staple???

Joshua is truly the biggest hypejob to ever live.

Not once did a world champion get their ass beat by a tub of ice cream and quit in their corner. But Joshua somehow defied the odds and embarrassed himself in front of millions

I wonder where he will end up all time British heavyweight.

I don't think he could do anything to take him outside of the top ten. He's locked in for that IMO.

Joshua-Ruiz I was the most embarrassing loss.

Pongsaklek Wonjongkam losing to Sonny Jaro was an even bigger upset, but less embarrassing because the fight had a much lower profile, despite Wonjongkam's high ranking at flyweight. And as previously mentioned, Wonjongkam's age was obviously a factor.

Except for boxing websites like this one, the flyweight fight was not even reported in the USA and the UK. Only hardcore boxing fans in the UK and USA even knew about the fight, most people outside South-east Asia do not follow the flyweight division (a shame really because there are some very exciting fights in the lower weight divisions).

But the Joshua loss was big news, especially in the UK and Latin-American media. Casual boxing fans and people who were not really boxing fans knew about it - a huge number of people watched highlights of the fight on YouTube.

And yes, Ruiz looked like a fat, out-of-shape non-fighter, while Joshua looked like the real deal. This added greatly to the embarrassment.

I wonder if he'll end up above or below Bruno. I think probably the work he got done prior to Ruiz is enough to have him above him.

This is really bad but no one really expected much out of Chavez Jr, I think Joshua/Ruiz I trumps it

Excellent choice. What amazed me about that fight was not just that Jaro won but that Jaro was leading on points when it was stopped. I mean that in boxing there can always be that one punch KO that pulls an upset victory from the jaws of defeat. James Toney-Michael Nunn would be an example of that. Jaro was actually winning on the scorecards when the end came.

40 year old Povetkin viciously KOes Whyte, after Whyte laughs at Wilder for being knocked out by Fury.

    Mikey Garcia Vs. Sandor Martin?

    Guillermo Rigondeaux Vs. Vincent Astrolabio?

Both got comprehensively SCHOOLED by a complete unknown...

I agree. If he beats Usyk - which I've almost ruled out, personally - then he'd rank above Bruno easily IMO. If he beats another top three fighter and Fury stays retired, he'd outrank him too IMO.

In terms of top level boxing - it's hard to look past AJ v Ruiz

Yeah, big if that, but AJ beating Usyk would definitely confuse issues. The wildest thing that could happen is that AJ wins on a robbery and they have to do it again.

Yeah, Chavez jr vs Silva was a respectable boxer past his prime versus a respectable non-boxer past his prime in an 8-rounder which went the distance with no knockdowns. Sure, it was embarrassing for JSCjr to lose that one, but it was more of a novelty fight. AJ losing his heavyweight belts on the world's stage to someone who looks like they should be working at a carnival operating a tilt-a-whirl is drastically more embarrassing.

I don’t think you can compare since Ping was 35 years old which is beyond ancient in that division. AJ was in his prime 29 year olds 22-0 with 21 KOs, 3 belt unified HW champion making his American debut at Madison Square Garden. That fight was 100% to showcase AJ to the American audience and he disappointed big time. It doesn’t help that Andy Ruiz was short and fat in contrast to AJ which is what you would expect the HW champion to look like.
