I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to see this fight. My fellow posters across the ocean, is this really a big fight over there?
Yes, so there will be a period of time (around 20 ish hours or so from the weigh-in as UK weigh-ins are around 3pm) where Eubank will only be allowed to gain/rehydrate <10lbs. This is the most dangerous time to be fair as the body is still weak from the weight cutting and he'll be fatigued all afternoon, evening, night and early morning as a result. It also increases the risk of brain injury as there is less liquid (than usual) around the brain area. After that he has around 10 hours or so to rehydrate to whatever he wants but will his body be as receptive to it after a period of rest and acclimitisation? Will there also be a weight/time cut off period for Eubank? For Benn it's no problem. He'll have the chance to drink fluids, eat some food and probably have over 24 hours or so to be at a very comfortable weight. I don't like weight bullies, especially when it's unchecked (Canelo vs Khan for example) but equally I don't like silly games either to severely handicap someone else. Benn looks like a 140lbs fighter to me. Eubank should be at 168lbs. This whole thing is ridiculous and I hope it does not set a dangerous precedent.
It's huge as in all over the media and people who don't normally talk boxing are already talking about it, but most proper boxing fans see it for what it is, a novelty cash grab mismatch.
