Greater fighter: Miguel Lora or Gilberto Roman

2 highly underrated technicians in the lower weight division known for their pure boxing skills, quickness and slick defense. Who do you think was the greater / better fighter overall in terms of resume and H2H?

Miguel Lora: Has wins over Daniel Zaragoza, Wilfredo Vazquez Sr., Alberto Davila, Antonio Avelar
Gilberto Roman: Has wins over Santos Laciar, Jiro Watanabe, Sugar Baby Rojas, Juan Carazo

 

Roman for me. His fight with Montero is just superb to absorb his skills. Poetic.

 

This is a close one! I think at their best Lora was a slightly better fighter but Roman's time in the top tier was filled with more good wins. Here in America, we would say Lora's wins over Zaragoza and Davila are better than any wins Roman had. I would disagree. Zaragoza was a good win but Davila was done. Roman beat Jiro Watanabe and Sugar Baby Rojas, both when they were undefeated champions.

I say that Roman was the greater fighter.

 

Lora also has some fights were he looked great. His performance against Daniel Zaragoza was an excellent display of counterpunching.

 

At his best, he was certainly the most dynamic.

 

Wow, sometimes I can be really dense! I have been on this website for a year and I've read plenty of @salsanchezfan posts throughout the website. It was not until two minutes ago that I realized his user name is Sal Sanchez Fan. All of this time I thought it said Salsa N Chez Fan as in a shortened version of Salsa And Cheese Fan. I thought this despite the fact that he has a photo of the great Mexican fighter as his avatar. Just freaking amazing.

 

Roman. In my opinion, I’ve just seen more of his fights I barely know how to rank fighters. His fight with Jiro is really good.

 

I have Roman ranked as the number one overall super flyweight of all time. Even taking into account bantamweights greater historical depth, Lora isn’t ranked higher than Roman on my mythical list of ‘great P4P fighters’.
