A concept lost on a large majority of the posters on the GF today.

The Cotto/Mosely fight was not controversial. Cotto is not overrated, if anything Margo was underrated, now... why would you want to downplay the great victory Antonio Margarito just had???

anyone who came in here and agreed with this clown and his wild statements should be ashamed to call there selfs fan of this great sport......ya'll are like little highschool girls who click together to talk bad about your "freind" who just got dumped by her boyfreind.......Cotto's overated? **** out of hear, everyone new from the very beggining that IF cotto lost it would be because he chin just couldn't hold out, not because he's skill were overhyped, which he proved by boxing beautifully.....and banging well, and for the most part his defense was applicable aswell as his counterpunching.......and we don't even need to mention his footwork......Cotto gave an A class performance.....and honestly Margarito gave a B class one.....but B class skills with a heart of a warrior, and a ****ing chin of diamond made up for his lack of skills and pedigree.............so anyone who comes in here and say's "cotto's overated"......."cotto's overhyped".......or who tries to discredit Margarito great victory over a great fighter, is a ****ing idiot, that's all i'm gonna say

I hate ****ers like this. A man just fought an amazing fight, only to have a ****ing beast in the ring who refused to lose and now you want to call him over rated? Others have already clarified why this is a recockulous statement but **** like this really 'irks' me! Both men showed why they are NOT over rated and if you can't see that than you should really watch some other sport because boxing is far to good for you.

edit. Monstar basically said what I was saying... but better... and first! So long story short... I agree with most everything he said... except perhaps that Margarito gave a b-class performance, but I know what he meant when he said it.

Cotto was overrated, that is accurate. Much as Jermaine Taylor was before Pavlik fought him.

To think that people could actually pick him to stop Margarito, or to read some of the absolute nonsense here at ESB by people trying to convince themselves that Cotto's shorter reach would be an asset against Margo, is a testament to just how overrated Miguel was.

He is a highly-skilled, ballsy (he fought Margo, unlike PBF) guy. But the 'legend' stuff was totally out-of-proportion with his accomplishments. Order was restored last night.

Just because SOME people over rate someone does not make them over rated. It makes SOME people idiots. That being said, picking Cotto to win was not that crazy, it just means some of us were not giving Margarito's will to win enough credit. Margarito proved people wrong, while Cotto demonstrated tremendous skill and heart... he just didn't have enough to stop Margarito which does NOT make him over rated... if anything it makes Margarito under rated.

I love boxing. But sometimes the fans drive me nuts.

At least he was willing to fight the best, he took a chance and lost, everyone moans when the best don't fight the best and when they do, you give them ****.
    Unbelievable.

Learn to read, and to analyze fights better.

The people who picked Cotto by KO do not know the sport at all. That was one of the stupidest predictions I have ever seen in following the sweet science for nearly 30 years. There was NO logic behind such a selection. None.

Again, this was one of the easiest picks I have ever made. Good big man beats good little man. Seen this story about 1,000,000 times before.

The difference between someone like yourself and someone like myself is you think like a fan, and not as someone who covers or analyzes the sport. It's not about who YOU want to win, it's about objectively looking at the match-up, reasoning it out and making a conclusion based on the facts.

Anyone -- ANYBODY -- who picked Cotto by KO despite ALL evidence to the contrary should be forced to take Boxing 101 somewhere. That was, without exception, a totally deficient, hype-addled choice and shows a fundamental lack of knowledge of the fight game.

Cotto wasn't anything near what he was cracked up to be, especially when matched up with Margarito. He was overrated. If you don't like that, so what? The result spoke for itself, just as those of us who made the right call knew it would.

Cotto was battered and destroyed, and only a fool couldn't see it coming. If you look in my signature, the link to the Margo-Cintron II fight shows that I have seen this result coming for months. Nothing could have been clearer than what was going to happen in this bout, including picking Pavlik over Taylor.

I didn't pick a winner before the fight. I am wise enough to know when I don't know. Nor am an Emmanual Steward and claim I knew exactly how a fight was going to go after the fact. I have also watched enough boxing to know that when it is two very talented, determined boxers in the ring what is expected to happen does not always come to pass.

Also, I can read. And what you have stated in your post is that Cotto was over rated, when what really happened is many people picked Cotto based on a fairly reasonable analysis of the boxers. Many people who were picking Cotto realized it was a fight he could quite possibly lose.

What I was saying, and which you completely missed, was that it is stupid to call Cotto over rated because SOME people over rated him, while many just under rated Margarito and because Cotto lost. How about giving credit where it is due... aka to both fighters who put on an incredible display of skill and heart. Instead you would rather put over your own incredible boxing analysis skills and take away from Margarito's acheivement.

I also wonder why you watch boxing if you already know what is going to happen and it is merely an excerise in watching what you knew would happen, happen.

Anyhow, I'm going to go with. Cotto = still amazing fighter... even with *gasp* a lose. And Margarito = under rated to a degree by many in boxing; particularly in the testicular department as I don't even know how he can walk with balls that big, much less fight.

Cotto was never overrated ! He's a great fighter but has his flaws like most guys out there...His past competition is excellent if compared to a guy like Calzaghe that's praised here sometimes like he's the second coming of Christ....

No one's overrated just because they lose a competittive fight !:verysad

    :patsch Slap yourself.

The work he did in the first 6 rounds was absolutely stunning, and would have been too much for the majority of welterweights. He countered beautiful, dodged and ducked beautifully, but he eventually succome to Margarito's ridiclious pressure. Cotto is a fantastic fighter, and so is Margarito, for 2 entirely different reasons.
