The list is based on a formula. It’s not an opinion. There’s nothing to agree or disagree with.

The rankings of Patterson and Tunney will raise the most eyebrows.

In Patterson's case I can at least see why a statistical approach would place him high.

I don't know where to start really, so I'll begin here: Patterson and no Dempsey? Tunney and no Holmes? Liston and no Foreman? Even a pure statistical approach is not usually that bad!

I'm with you. Melio Bettina is listed as the 40th best heavyweight ever. And he was only ranked at heavyweight for two years during the mid 40s.

    Who knew?

As others have said, it is a statistical approach.

For the most part it identifies the head to head monsters, such as Louis, Ali and Lewis.

We can perhaps give it a pass for missing men like Jack Johnson and Jack Dempsey, based on the fog of their era.

It completely misses Larry Holmes, which is a serious omission, with no similar excuse

It also gets triggered by men like Patterson, who have impressive statistics on paper, but clearly weren't as dangerous as some of the other men on the list.

I’m ok with the top three but from there things go down hill. As much as I love Floyd Patterson and respect him, there’s no way he’s the 4th best heavy of all time. As others have mentioned they don’t have Holmes in their top 10 which I find a tad bizarre. Tunney was a great fighter p4p but I wouldn’t have him in the heavyweight top 10. Tyson Fury is a head to head monster but his resume is too thin to make the list right now. There are other discrepancies but I’ll stop there
