Look, I think it would be good for everyone if Fury retired, at least temporarily.

Giving up the belt could backfire even if he wants to come back.

Before the Wilder fights, people like Hearn-AJ knew Fury was a difficult opponent but they weren't worried about him as he'd been very defensive for a while. Now he's been quite dangerous punching wise too and people have given him much more respect after the Wilder fights.

There's a chance now people duck him to get the other belt.

If AJ wins he might elect to fight Wilder or whoever has the WBC instead and shut Fury out of it. Fury is more of a threat now than he was. The fight isn't as big as it was anyway and they might feel they can make more with all the belts carefully selecting others for a few years. Even if they want Fury, they might not give him the split he wants now he has no belt leverage and the fight falls through.

If Usyk wins, he might also elect to skip Fury and fight for the WBC belt to unify.

I am not sure I care either way to be honest. If he wants to have more kids with Paris then good luck to them.

There’s no logical reason why Fury would retire which is why I believe him. Dumping the belts makes absolutely zero sense from a legacy or financial standpoint. He’d have a massive payday and legacy boost against Usyk or Joshua for the undisputed HW championship and now will have neither.

Translation for TLDRers = G-g-g-guys, I'm scared that Tyson Fury will beat Oleksandr Usyk.

You're as authentically unscared as you are presently an authentic 'Tyson Fury supporter' (if you ever did fit that description, your denigrating him at every spurious opportunity suggests those days are well and truly over, with fervent Usykmania taking exclusive priority).

It's cool, though. Periodic shakeouts are necessary. Gotta know the for reals from the fly-by-nights.

This is nonsense. I think it would be better if he took some time off until the fights he wants are there. That is really not a controversial opinion.

The fight he wants, and that you evidently are not keen on, is already there, or shortly will be. It could've happened in December, but Usyk wanted some time. So it'll happen in 2023, which is patently much better for boxing than Fury retiring for three years. No mental gymnastics required.

The titular statement isn't so much controversial as unpopular and rather bewildering (unless one apprehends the fears driving it). Boxing fans want to see Fury-Usyk next year, and they shall not be disappointed. It's going to be a good time, calm your nerves.

Yeah, I've thought Fury is bad for boxing for several years.

The media are up him sooo much so its good for boxing as it brings eyes (and he is the first white western heavy champ in years - I think) so it brings lots of fans who relate to that. (like Andy Ruiz being the first Mexican heavy champ).

But he is 100% bad for boxing, the industry rimming him these past few years has put him on this pedestal where he can do anything and hence he is not held accountable for his actions any more, instead he gets more adoration.

    It's not about Fury

It's about corrupt orgs not setting real mandatories or having a legit ranking league

Not hard to take a belt hostage or buy a belt if you draw the money

Fury is a conman, he cons his way out of all regulations/mandatories etc that he wants no part of.
