i think this loss hurts his p4p rating a lot, due to the fact that he wasnt fighting a p4p'er. it depends where you put him before tonight. if you have him around 7-10..then he slips out of top 10...but if you have him high around 3-5...then he falls around 10...

I'm not certain yet if he'll stay in the later part of my Top 10 P4P list. Frankly, the bigger question to me is after that fight last night if he will show himself as a Top 10 caliber fighter again. Physical fights like that can take a lot out of a fighter.

It depends what you like. I prefer Cotto's resume overall, Hatton has that one big win that may or may not trump any of Cotto's depending on how you viewed his tactics that night, but I prefer the overall consistency of Cotto's.

Look, Cotto has beaten the **** out of the guy Hatton is about to fight - ages ago. He's beaten Judah, Mosley, Quintana, Torres, solid guys like N'dou and Corley. I'm struggling to match up the names on Hatton's resume to them.

Paulie defended himself very well vs Cotto, he lost fair and square, but Paulie did take a couple of rounds

Indeed. He'll probably take more than a couple against Hatton too, if Hatton fights like he did against Lazcano.

But then I don't think Malignaggi has been completely the same since Cotto. He got quite a beating that night, and I had him losing to Ngoudjo, and he barely scraped past N'dou the second time.

Ngoudjo won that fight 7-5 but was robbed, like he was robbed against Castillo

Definitely. Also Malignaggi was badly rocked by Ngoudjo in like round 6 or 7, I can't remember. I don't think his chin is quite as good as it was.

Me too. But in determining who is the better fighter, the level at which the man finds himself over-matched is a crucial factor. Cotto's been beaten by a limited fighter at his perfect weight during his absolute prime. That tells me that he's not anything like as good as I thought he was.

It sounds like i'm running down Margarito there - I'm really not, I think he's a cracking fighter, but he can only do one thing. If Cotto can't solve that one thing, and it is a pretty come ahead, basic strategy...

Apart from Cotto, there's nobody I really feel like Hatton has ducked...he's a two weight world champ with one loss onhis resume to one of the best, ever.

That reads better than what Cotto has right now, for me.

Don't bother arguing with TFFP guys, he just hates Hatton. He has no objectivity on the subject whatsoever.

Hatton went from the Rings number 3 P4P fighter to nowhere after losing to the number 1 guy when fighting above his natural weight which was pretty harsh IMHO. If Cotto is still in the top 10 after this loss then I'd like to hear an explaination.

We aren't arguing, we are having a nice little discussion on this pleasant Sunday afternoon. Hatton's resume just isn't as good as Cotto's, there is no hating about it. It's right there on paper for you to check, if Hatton's ballsack isn't distorting the view.

Not that much, Cotto was fighting an incredible fight; accurate, hard counter punches and combinations - his speed once again went up a notch. Had it been anyone other than Mayweather, Margarito, or Williams in the ring with him last night they would've gotten steamrolled. Even in losing that was the best performance I've seen by Cotto.
