I thought AJ fought as well as he possibly could do, and actually his plan worked.

He worked the body, wanted to slow Usyk down to the point where he'd be vulnerable for the hail mary shot.

The one thing they never would have expected is that Usyk would be able to take the best shot AJ could throw.

There's nothing more AJ could have done. Nothing.

Funny part is that AJ actually fought a much better fight this go around.

He legitimately had Usyk hurt there for a few moments. He still gassed out, but he managed to hold it together longer this go around.

And then he acted like a weirdo afterwards. Like Hearn said, you lost to the #1 PFP fighter in the world. No shame in that.

The judges did not see it like that. They obviously liked AJ’s body work.

I'm from the same era and couldn't agree more. Wtf is it with modern boxing fans? All they do is whine, whine, whine. These were great fights. Both fighters left it on the ring floor and the right man won. Quit complaining and enjoy boxing history!!

I need to let AJ's speech sink in to understand what happened there.
Was like a mix of his road man days and fake pr persona colliding while passive aggresively praising Usyk and stealing his limelight.

Most bizar post fight speech since mike Tyson?

The post fight monologue was the most cringe thing I've ever seen.

"I know I don't throw combinations as well as Rocky Maeciano, I'm not 14 stone, I'm heavy I'm 18 stone"

    Lmao

It should be pointed out though that Usyk cheated 3 times in this fight. Took a breather when hurt by pretending he was hit low when he never was.

Imagine the hatred if AJ did that.

Very important to get your moments of mental rest when you can, that's why you see most boxers try and be as relaxed as possible entering the ring. You don't get many chances to switch off for a few seconds in the ring, and with Usyk I'd say AJ pretty much had zero opportunity. Came out in those final three rounds where he was gassed and the more relaxed fighter could up the tempo despite the punishment being fairly even at that stage.

Shows how valuable an amateur pedigree is IMO. Guys like Usyk and Fury almost look more at peace mentally in the ring than they do out of it, especially Fury.

Boxing fans should demand Usyk vs Fury.

    Pressure Fury everywhere.
