Eddie squeezed a lot of money out of AJ though. Matchroom really did their work from the PR side to build him up as this humble, unbeatable once in a generation talent. I am friends with some casual boxing fans, and I remember them saying after the Joshua vs Povetkin fight that AJ could beat any fighter in history due to his combination of size, athleticism, and boxing skill. Then all that mystique started to crumble beginning with the Ruiz fight. I don’t know if AJ has the mental makeup to come back after 3 losses in his past 5 fights now.
I just listened to “You’re not strong how did you beat me?” I just. Jeez, I’m not amateur since I was 8 years old in Siberia? Jeez. “How many belts you got now bro” I love how Usyk tries to understand what he says after he steals the flag “How did you beat me” AJ just bails without listening. “Unique moment in boxing” “great deal of credit” LOL. The funniest joke “Split decision” I like how the commentators don’t know how to handle AJ’s weirdness or salvage it and break down half way trying to understand and just call it as it is.
Exactly. They call Fury fake (and I admit, Fury makes contradictory statements almost daily), but could you imagine the amount of stick he would get if he had a post-fight meltdown like the one Joshua just had?! "How did you beat me" "I don't know what's going on in Ukraine" "I'm not a 12 round fighter" Joshua needs to give his head a wobble
His corner repeatedly and continually told AJ he was winning every round. In a close fight, which it was if you weren't scoring it and just enjoying the fights it was a very odd thing to hear what his corner were telling him. They set AJ up for a hard fall doing that, and all that confidence building rhetoric took time away from giving him clear instructions to advise him on what adjustments he needed to make. Didnt AJ just change trainers for this very thing> They also told AJ he was winning and the results proved otherwise in both fights. That was a great fight by both men and well worth watching..................except for the emotional meltdown when AJ stole the Mic. That should never have happened.
Usyk only grew up about a thousand miles from Siberia…does AJ think Eastern Europe equals Siberia (which is actually part of Asia)?
