Once again, Bayless and Smoger prove they are by FAR the best refs in the business. No ego. No dumb interference. No dumb disqualifications. No dumb catchphrases, etc....

Yep you hardly noticed him which is always good unlike Cortez or Nady who would of been sure to do something controversial to be the star of the show.

It was the first time I have watched a fight with Kenny Bayless in the middle (I think) and I was very impressed with his handling of the fight throughout.

Is this thread a dig at Joe Cortez by any chance???

    Cortez shockers......

Herol Graham vs Julian Jackson (counting Herol out)
    Ricky Hatton vs Floyd Mayweather
    Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins
The recent controversial DQ (forgotten names)

Took me a while to warm up to Bayless since he used to seem extremely tense. He's turning into a damn good ref.

Still don't know why Smoger doesn't get more big fights. Best in the business in my book.

U remember when cotto was hurt in the 10th (i think), so cotto tried to clinch on. ref quickly intervened and seperated them quick. giving cotto no time.
this was good. these referees keep the punching going

one thing i didn't like was e kept getting in the way, the camera had to keep changing angles.

Not at all. It is a dig at all refs (Cortez, Cotton, etc...) of huge fights (or any fight for that matter) that take the NBA referee approach and think they are part of the fight. They aren't. Only be a part of the fight unless it is absolutely necessary. The egos and incompetence of refs in boxing is out of line.

Bayless did an excellent job. I'm always pleased to see him or Weeks work the big fights.

Weeks is money as well, but not yet in Smoger/Bayless class yet.

I love him as a ref but why does he always crouch over like someone is shoving something up his a$$

I have no problem with that. It means he is getting the best possible angles so he doesn't make any stupid ass calls or interfere when he shouldn't. Smoger is good about that as well.

Angles, man angles. So he doesn't do something in regards to what he thought he saw, but what actually happened.

Yeah let's applaud, I love it when referees allow men on one knee to take a punch to the head and then not even warn the puncher. Class.
