I think Cortez is just clinging on now - people wouldn't hate him so much if he actually let the fighters be the star attraction. If he wants the Joe Cortez show then go into TV!

There is always a dodgy DQ on the horizon with Cortez in charge - he always seems to take the most controversial option.

You are a douche. It happens in boxing. That is the game. There was no intent, it happened, and the worst thing to do would have been to disqualify him. And there was no effect and props to Cotto for not bitching as well.

He was committed to the shot anyway.

It was certainly no worse than the rabbit punches he hit Cintron with - though that wasn't all his fault with Kermit turning round or ducking.

It doesn't matter if there was intent, it doesn't matter Cotto didn't complain, it doesn't matter that it made no difference to the fight (Margo was by far the better man on the night and would've won no matter what), the ref's job is to ensure rules are followed, especially those relating to a defenceless fighter's safety. And he did not do that. He ****ed up. You can't argue that.

He definately could have called time, given a warning to Margarito not to hit when Cotto is down, and then given Cotto some time to recover. I would not have complained. Don't think it warranted a point deduction though

You're one to talk. I didn't see you up in arms when Pac deliberately clocked Marquez while he was down.

You didn't see me up in arms? I'm one to talk?! We don't even know each other u weirdo. I'm not Manny Pacquiao you know, I thought it was wrong when that was let go v Marquez, and I thought it was wrong last night too, refs need to tighten up on that, those punches can make a difference in the fight and they are illegal. It's a boxing issue, not a Manny Pacquiao issue, so stop trying to judge people's personality and opinion based solely on the name they choose, and debate the issue in hand. If you even have brainpower capable of that. Don't you realize what a childish fanboy you sound like by dragging Manny Pacquiao into a discussion about Kenny Bayless's refereeing of the Cotto-Margarito fight with someone you don't even know? It's that kind of pathetic, pathetic playground garbage that gives the General Forum a bad name. Grow up you "Kenny Bayless nuthugger".

I doubt it's the first time you've seen Bayless referee a fight, and that's exactly the point . The best referees aren't seen or heard unless it's really called for, they bring no unnecessary attention to themselves .

    Bayless has reffed:
    Monte Barret-Tye Fields
    Pacquiao-Marquez II
    Ponce De Leon-Eduardo Escobedo
    Hasegawa-Maludrottu
    Montiel-Melindez,
    Mayweather-DLH
    D-Hop-Steve Forbes
    Mosley-Collazo
    Casamayor-Corrales III
    Vasquez-Gonzalez
    Mosley-Vargas II
    Viloria-Romero
    Guzman-Jauregui
    Juan Diaz-Jose Cotto
    Gonzalez-Marc Johnson
    Lazcano-Tackie
    Pacquiao-Morales II

and that's all in the last 2 1/2 years, I guess you've probably seen plenty of those fights .
