Hearn has a lot more problems than trying to resurrect Joshua's career, you don't have to have gone to Harvard Business school to realise that DAZN's power of marketing is pretty much non existent. Matchroom's cards are ok but unless you are on boxing forums etc. how would you ever find out anything about them? This is going to be a major problem when trying to promote a boxer with AJ's monetary requirements . Hearn now has to guarantee AJ an opponent he has a chance of beating , who can appear to the punters as credible and make financial sense. I suppose Whyte ticks boxes in that he is known , would hype the fight but on downside he is another one with an inflated price tag. I am pretty critical of Whyte's ability and up until Saturday night figured AJ would beat him 99 times out of a 100 now I am not so sure as AJ's mental state worries me.
Eddie Hearn straightaway said we want him back out in December. He's got a DAZN tv deal to pay for of course. Plus all of the 2578 'hangers on' need paying. AJ doesn't actually need to fight in December at all.
I agree with a lot points regarding marketing of DAZN has been poor. I'd do think Benn vs Eubank is a fight they desperately needed to boost their subscriptions. There's no way that it does not sell big (although I'd be surprised if out does AJ vs Wlad and AJ vs Ruiz 2 as Hearn claims). Having AJ return fight on DAZN will also help.
Just googled it and this was Joshua's entourage as of 2019. He's added more since. Jamie Reynolds: Strength and condition coach that has previously worked with the likes of Troy Deeney and Eden Hazard. Rob McCracken: Former British middleweight champion and corner man that AJ asked "why am I feeling this" during defeat to Ruiz. Frank Smith: CEO of Matchroom Boxing. David KD Ghansa: Self confessed "Marketing Magician". Freddie Cunningham: Managing director at AJBXNG and 258 Management. Andy Bell: PR manager. Co-founder of SoapBox London. Rowan Wilkinson: Andy Bell's assistant at SoapBox. Rob Madden: Strength and conditioning specialist and well-known personal trainer. Mark Ellison: Nutritionist that also works with Manchester United and GB Boxing. Henry Baldwin: Management. Leon Skinner: AJ's right hand man. Was an actor and featured in the likes of 2005 drama Notes on a Scandal alongside Dame Judi Dench. Sina Ghami: Strength and rehabilitation coach and gym owner. Michael Jarman: Agent to the likes of Patrick van Aanholt and Tom Huddlestone. James Mulley: Close friend of the former heavyweight champion. Will Harvey: Athlete manager at AJ BOXING. Joe Mitchinson: Videographer that has also worked with Manchester United star Marcus Rashford. Iwan Llewelyn: Social media manager - previously listed Antoine Griezmann as one of his clients. Ben Ileyemi: Cousin, security, pro fighter and the man that eventually made AJ take his first step into boxing at the age of 18. --- Them titles are absolute bollocks. All a fighter needs is a promoter, a manager, a trainer and assistant trainer, a nutritionist and a S&C coach.
All bollocks mate. BTEC Business Studies graduates, running around, negotiating big fights in boxing.. That Will Harvey belongs on the trading floor of the stock exchange. Look at him!
I would give him Wallin and then Whyte as quickly as possible, then maybe have a decider against Ruiz in the US with the idea he knocks him out this time. The priority should be to stay active and get KO's, he's had too many long periods of inactivity. The problem is DAZN have thrown an absurd deal at him, so whatever happens will be about maximising profit (or minimising losses).
To the OP. Agenda much, you simpleton. No matter what AJ does, you'll never ever give him any credit because you're entrenched, stuck in a corner with your back to the wall. He lost to a potential ATG and HOF. It happens, no shame. Fighters lose fights. Are you Pro Fury or Pro Usyk?
I’m pro boxing, from a historical perspective, with an acute eye for a hype job and a glass jaw. What about you pal?
Wallin seems like a good choice. You have the Fury triangle theory and he's not a big puncher. After that I imagine it will be Whyte and maybe a world tour before having one last crack at a belt which won't be occupied by Usyk or Fury.
Good points. For me, the answer is get him out on the platform regularly even if they aren't the biggest names. I'm the type of consumer who will buy DAZN for a month watch the big card(s), then cancel, until the next big card(s) that I'm willing to pay for. They already can rely on the real hardcore who will just keep their subscription. So, they need to discourage the behaviour I display and get consumers like me to just let the subscription tick over. I've always been a bit tight so I'm still likely to subscribe and cancel. However a regular Joshua fight every few months with a fair undercard is something that would be more attractive. Once people start allowing the subscription to tick over into the next month and then the next, then they have you and they make their profits. Regular Joshua fights would still have the interest of the sports pages, and especially if he kept winning.
I didn’t think Wallin was a realistic option since he’s prime and undefeated and gave Fury hell. Was risky enough for Whyteleafe to DUCK…
Is Eric Molina available, or is he too busy teaching arithmetic? He deserves another shot. He didn't get a fair crack in the first bout with all of the papers he had to mark.
