This is pretty funny. First thing, Fury's 'dirty tactics' are mild compared to all the heroes of his critics or who get a pass by Fury critics.

If you've watched his fights, you'll know he's been on the end of plenty of fouls, it's normally the opponents who initiate.
    Examples.
Wlad openly headbutted Fury. Fury's rabbit punch foul was laughable compared to what Wlad did.
Abel headbutted Fury. That's why Fury nutshotted him afterwards.
Wallin butted and raked Furys' cut.

    The Cunningham fight.
Fury's tactics were overblown by the hysterical American team who were talking Fury down in the build up and couldn't handle the result.
Fury did some leaning and holding down with elbows, big deal. Nazim was pretending this was basically a Mortal Kombat finishing move.
The actual finishing shot might have been a slight foul but people lie about this fight and pretend Cunningham wasn't about to be finished. Fury hurt him badly with a series of body and head uppercuts leading to the finish and Battleship was ready to go. Fury beat him up primarily with very legal shots. It wasn't a one punch KO out of nowhere on an unhurt opponent.

    The Wilder fight.
Wilder KO'd Harrison with what looked like back of the head shots. Also Ortiz got clubbed like that and I think Stiverne too in one of the fights. So it's laughable to complain about the hook Fury landed which was landed from a normal position, not some windmilling over a hurt opponent. Fury's leaning and whatever, again don't pretend it's strikes with head or elbows, or nutshots, which do real damage. Fury's grappling/leaning isn't Wlad level either.

The real fouling fighters Fury critics often give a pass to.
Wlad: history of extreme grappling and open headbutt on Fury.
    Ward: grappling and butts
    Tyson: arm wrenching, biting
    Holyfield: butts
Mayweather: grappling and elbows and sucker punches
    Whyte: headbutting
    And so on.

I could not have said it better myself!

I am sick of the rationalizations for cheating & corruption because it is "your" fighter or nation represented.
A certain amount of occasional clinching is very difficult to prevent, but it must be limited at most.

If a fighter wants to get really dirty, let him join a league where he can risk his eyes being gouged out & his genitals damaged for life.
Fury wants to wrestle? He should join the sport, see how he would so against people near his size (terribly, due to his experience level & their much greater muscle & strength).

Actually I think it is so important for Usyk & the health of boxing that he gets a fair & strict referee...
That if I were Usyk I would start campaigning publicly for it now.
Also offer to wrestle Fury for charity after it is over if he likes, but no cheating in the squared circle.

If the referee had not warned Ali twice early in Manilla, we would likely see something like their previous fight: a small Travesty where Ali initiated an average of over a dozen clinches & holding per round!

Instead we got a Fair Fight, a record # of HW punches landed: & a Fight for the Ages.

Definitely, they both pushed the boundaries (in the trilogy and the rest of their careers), both broke rules and risked losing points etc as they were supposed to. The precedent has long been set that you get wider birth on a HW title fight, no way does Jack Reiss let Fury finish the first fight under any other circumstances. Perhaps a point could have been taken either way or both, might have cleaned things up, but no way should there have been a DQ.

That's why they get paid the big bucks, they take the biggest risks.

Now that's the truth, ran into a guy at a bar who referenced GGG and I was pretty psyched. Turned out that was the only fighter he followed, it was weird.

Usyk isn't a dirty fighter but he's not a babe in the woods either. If I recall Glowacki was a pretty physical fight.

I didn't like how he was trying to signal to the ref during the last AJ fight instead of just protecting himself and getting revenge as needed but hopefully that's a lesson learned.

The big problem is I don't think any refs currently have the size, strength, and conditioning to actually get in and break up a HW clinch consistently for 12 rounds. It's unprecedented, but I wouldn't mind the addition of a large sort of bouncer standing on the ring apron who comes in the enforce breaks. As it is the ref is ultimately powerless.

I just hope, however the ref handles the fight, that it's consistent and even. If we get strict enforcement good, if it's lax OK, but make sure it isn't a little of both.

To be fair to Cunningham he (kind of) has a point. Fury was getting pieced up in that fight (wasn't just the OH right that dropped him as Cunningham's sole highlight; he was getting rocked and outboxed in other stretches after that as well). When he began leaning on Cunningham and using his physicality to wear him down was when the tide of the fight changed. I don't exactly consider those dirty tactics (or borderline) so it was up to Cunningham to respond, but what was unquestionably dirty was Fury's shot that KOed Steve, a blatant forearm push/frame followed by a clubbing right hand that Cunningham couldn't see or brace for because his head was being held in place, i.e. a hit and hold.

I don't believe Steve would have won the fight, but it was definitely not Fury's finest moment, and one which has always been in the back of my mind whenever a Fury Usyk fight is bandied about.

When Fury beats Usyk, I am almost 100% certain some people will complain about the fact that 'Fury as too big' and it was 'unfair'.

Just remind them it’s the Heavyweight division not the Heightweight division. Usyk v Fury certainly needs to happen .

Poor little bitter Stevie. I'd suggest someone hugs him but he may collapse under the weight.

I think Ruiz would be tough for Fury cuz of his hand speed. A broken clock is right twice a day, and I think eventually Ruiz would catch him. He's also MUCH better at finding the body than AJ and he throws more on the inside than Usyk.

He should have done it during his Fury fights too then. Fury did it to him by his own admission.

I can't believe people justify Furys illegal tactics. Boxing is truly for stupid people.

If any rules were followed, Fury would have been DQ for his shameful knockout of Cunningham which was a complete illegal scumbag move
