Canelo is getting better after they fought. Really liked the analogy of JMM vs Pacquiao cause in the 4th fight all the commentators could talk about was about Marquez's age 39. Even if Canelo wins GGG still wins the trilogy 2 x 1 in my book

Excellent video. JMM vs Pac comparison brings hope, but JMM beat Pac because he is precise counter puncher and age wasnt a big factor, GGG was difficult for Canelo because of his jab and workrate. Now GGG is slower and older I dont see him being as busy as he was 5 years ago. Only hope is lucky punch from Golovkin or angry Alvarez trying to knock him out, failing at doing that and gassing hard in few rounds, lol. I am rooting for Gennadiy

I think Golovkin will be even stronger at 168 and KO Canelo.

For many reasons I believe this will be competitive.

    1. Canelo took a hellacious beating four months ago. Every other prominent fighter except Canelo would have taken nine months or a year off after that (if not more).

1a. In his other post-covid activity, he fought four men who were all bigger than him (well BJS is about the same size) at a clip not seen in many years. Besides Yildirim they all took rounds and did damage.

    2. GGG had no regard for Szeremeta and the Murata fight was in Japan under difficult travel conditions. He did fine. Keep in mind good fighters sometimes even lose those type of fights.

    3. GGG's whole reason for still being alive is revenge. He's Captain Ahab at this point. Could you imagine being Adalaide Byrd and running into him in New York? Terrifying thought (being Adalaide Byrd that is, I'm sure GGG would be polite).

    4. The legend of Canelo has changed. In 2017 he was the new golden boy and needed to be protected. In 2022 he's all about daring to be great and being the guy who actually fights when others are still sheltering in place.

    5. Canelo losing this fight would give everyone another dip into the Canelo vs GGG money fountain, but if he wins then the biggest fights left for Canelo's career are against guys who don't even do PPVs on their own (and none are with Eddie Hearn).

Could be, but I also don't think Canelo punches that much harder than Murata. The only notable feat of punching he's accomplished came against Kovalev, who didn't want to be drug tested any more than Canelo did.

That's why I think Golovkin needs to take a page out of the book of Lomachenko and focus more of setting up his power punches with touching shots. Alvarez is a very good defender but he's usually looking for the big payoff--a hard counter after his opponent misses. Golovkin has become less of a combination guy as he's aged, which has allowed Alvarez to have some success against him. But if you watch the second Golovkin fight, Alvarez will keep his hands at home while GGG works with probing shots. The problem is that Golovkin largely leaves them as that. He needs to double-down on that strategy but bang in hard punches afterward. I think he will be more accurate that way while simply outworking Canelo.

I also believe he needs to adopt some of what Beterbiev did against Gvozdyk. Beterbiev kept throwing a straight right to the body and that helped him wear the Ukrainian down. Golovkin could do the same by masking it with the jab. Plus, it's a hard shot to counter off of. He has to get to the body more because it seems obvious that Alvarez is going to target the breadbasket as much as he can.

If Canelo doesn't beat his meat and unload all over his face then he is a bum.

What are they doing 160 or 168?

Glen Feldman had Canelo-GGG II a 114-114 draw...nothing ever changes.

Canelo's fights since GG II have been frankly underwhelming:
    Fielding (!)
Jacobs (solid MW; never rises to the occasion)
Kovalev (old, coming off a 5 weeks ago tough fight, one final payday)
    Smith (emaciated LHW)
    Yildrim (lol)
    Saunders (WAY overrated)
Plant (softer fists than Paulie Malgnaggi)

And finally he meets a very good to excellent boxer in Bivol..... and he gets schooled.

Ok, GGG hasn't fought a Murderer's Row either but take as a whole better than Canelo.

I've nothng against Canelo, but I'm hoping he turns back the clock, and uses the extra 8 pounds to
batter and stop Canelo. I realize this would put AK and Barak of DAZN on a suicide watch but we
can't help that, now can we.
