Joshua's confidence is shot, he's coming off consecutive defeats. He's still young for a HW and needs to rebuild.
No. Usyk didn't want to fight in December so he's looking for another opponent. Good for him. Let's not start complaining about boxers trying to be active.
I think its a better stylistic matchup for Fury. AJ losses do Usyk don't really feel like he got beat into a pulp, he is not damaged goods like some people think. I'll be very excited about this fight if it happens. The right split should be 70/30 but I have a feeling Fury will push to the minimum for AJ
He gave up the ring title but he's still lineal. Lineal is more of an abstract title and he'll have it until he loses/retires for good. After Lewis retired he was technically still lineal champ for like 5 years or something.
Joshua thought he won, though. Had the judges handed Joshua the decision, even if fans all over the world disagreed with it and shouted robbery, this (Fury) would be the next fight. Joshua wasn't beaten up. He got outpointed. He didn't throw a tantrum because he got beaten up. He threw a tantrum because he thought he won they didn't give him the decision. These guys all sat around for almost two years because of Covid. They all need to fight. Anthony Joshua doesn't need any confidence boosters. He's got confidence in spades. Joshua wants to fight. Fury wants to fight. So fight already.
He sat around for a couple years doing nothing feigning mental health issues while AJ was taking everyone out. He is used to sitting out
Joshua would get beaten badly by Fury at the best of times but this would be an absolute massacre. I hope it happens. He's just come off back to back defeats against a Ukrainian who was a light puncher at the top level at cruiser, who is 6'3 and 220 lbs. Just a few fights before that he got destroyed and made to quit by a relatively underpowered 5'11 obese Mexican in the most humiliating defeat ever. Imagine the psychological trauma AJ would be under facing a 6'8, 270 lbs, big punching Gypsy behemoth in the opposite corner, who would have ripped him to shreds for months in the buildup. AJ's gas tank would be emptied during the ring walk.
How can you say Wilder is tough to beat on the cards? The only questionable decision Wilder ever had in 40+ fights is the first Fury fight.
Because Fury, who played with master boxer Wlad in his backyard, didn't beat Wilder on the cards. "The only questionable decision Wilder ever had in 40+ fights is the first Fury fight." Exactly! No one could even take him to the cards barring Stiverne 1, who was soundly outboxed and virtually shut out, by a Wilder who had never gone past 4 rounds against much worse opponents in 32 previous fights.
He'll start to get more credit when he has more filler on his resume, Joshua would be a good name to have on his record. And then if he adds Usyk to his resume no one can have any complaints.
