Was able to box on the outside with the stick and move vs Duran and Hagler, could fight on the inside when needed, broke down Benitez, slugged it out with Hearns. Had great speed and power. Good jab. Good chin. Great finishing ability and heart. Great ring iq...

Was he the most complete boxer ever

Certainly ONE of the most compete fighters ever. And one of the very greatest pound for pound.

I think he's up there but he was too happy to stand and throw with much bigger and stronger men at times. I think like most ATG his biggest downfall was ego and he bought into his own image that the public perceived. Same deal happened with Ali, SRR, etc. you get the jist.

I'd say yeah. Other candidates for this title are:
    - Joe Louis
    - Ezzard Charles
    - Sugar Ray Robinson
    - Marvin Hagler
    - Michael Spinks
    - Julio Cesar Chavez Sr
    - Mike McCallum
    - Lennox Lewis (with Manny Steward)
    - Floyd Mayweather Jr

The gold standard for a complete fighter is named Sugar Ray Robinson. That being true Leonard was great at 147 , he could fight or box , I think his best effort was his loss to Duran actually. He very well may be the 2nd greatest welterweight of all time.

No he ain't. He was mostly an outside fighter and avoided brawls. Otherwise he wouldn't have run like a cowardly ***** and shoe shine at the end of rounds against the great Hagler (who epitomizes what a great boxer really is).

So, I see you are a one-trick troll. You already ran your mouth about older fighters vs newer fighters in the SRR against GGG thread.

Seriously, Leonard definitely showcased a pretty holistic set of skills. Except, not really all at once imo.

He was a far more driving puncher early on, in fact he came across as more of a puncher against Hearns in their first fight. Later on he became more of a boxer (of course, there are exceptions to this blanket assertion).

    You " avoided brawls " really ?
To my recollection he stood almost toe to toe, to one of the best brawlers ( when he wanted to ) in the history of boxing, namely Roberto Duran, and only lost by a round, lets not forget, he chose to brawl, witness the return when he compressively outboxed, and demoralised Roberto by choosing to box, so sorry buddy not buying it.
    stay safe amigo.
