Mayweather said the last fight in his true prime was against Gatti, is he telling the truth?

Floyd from Hernandez to Gatti was amazing.

It was Floyd at his very best and imo his greatest performance, even bettering the corralles performance

I understand Gatti is not a defensive wizard by any means, but Floyd really let his hands go and made a world champ look like a complete novice

He never threw his hands with such venom again. Hatton and probably Cotto are the 2 fighters that forced him to throw more than usual. He did hit Hatton with some nice combinations also, but not like Gatti

    Flawless victory!!

I'm sure that he knows best, it is his body. However, I always thought around the time that he faced Baldomir was the end of his prime.

Mayweather doesn't get enough credit for fighting at welterweight it was clearly above his weight class hence he never had any weight cut issues dude used to go round eating fried chicken lol wouldn't catch Spence or Crawford doing that on fight week

If anyone asked to show them what a prime Mayweather looked like I'd show them this fight. No reason to believe why he'd make this up, he never looked better than he did here.

Maybe the last time he really let his hands go and was vicious about it.

Absolutely that possibility exists! Suspicions about Pac juicing have been around since the Cotto fight. Yeah the guy has outspoken faith in God, but we also know he dealt drugs to survive when he was young, so it isn't unreasonable to suspect him. A lot of bad people try to hide behind faith in whatever God.

The difference is that Floyd got caught as I see it. The sheer amount of fluids he took alone have to be considered proof.

Another difference between the two (in my opinion) is that Floyd himself guided his cherry picking, while I would say Bob and Freddy moreso guided Pacs cherry picking. Now I've upset the whole message board...lol

I agree that it's possible Pac roided, but I'm starting to get cynical & I think they all do it now lol. So sad to say that, it's just another reason why boxing was so much greater in so many ways back in the rose-tinted past, didn't have these dang peds around.

I always thought it was against Corrales and I could’ve sworn I’ve heard him talk about it but Gatti makes sense.

I said that like 4 years ago. Floyd definitely wasn't in his prime. His mind was sharper as the older Floyd but that ain't prime, Bernard's mind was extremely sharp almost to damn near 50 but no one was saying Bernard was in his prime through his 40's.

Fury and Usyk get to claim they were past prime in their early 30s so Mayweather claiming he was past prime just before entering his 4th weight class I think that's reasonable

With the amount of money that can be made if you are a popular fighter (being popular is more lucrative than being good) I guess it shouldn't be surprising. Any type of advantage at all you can get in the sport makes a difference. The first thing that I think has to happen is that the sport needs to start caring about itself. Then you can start to clean up the bad stuff in boxing. It won't happen of course.

    Agreed.

But heck, I'm no angel - a certain percentage of corruption is inevitable, I suppose. Just as long as it translates into more fights that we want to see getting made! lol

His prime was 2009-2013.Marquez,Mosley,Ortiz,Cotto,Guerrero,Alvarez.All dominant wins against top fighters, the performance against Guerrero was the weakest, but the other 5 performances were incredible.
