dude should be fighting top HW contenders...his only loss is against the p4p best fighter in the world instead he is fighting 40 year old cans in Russia This content is protected
A combination of injuries and poor promotion is to blame for this. He has completely fallen off the map since that impressive performance in the loss to Usyk. You also do see a lot of Eastern European fighters being frozen out of the big fights especially at HW. It takes a lot of work on a promoters part to get them into title contention and title shots. However, his promoter has been especially poor. As the quality of his last 3 opponents shows. He has fought 3 complete no hopers in 4 years since nearly reaching the pinnacle of the CW division.
Injuries and bad management, not to mention being Russian is not going o help. But he is STILL only 28, and he seems to finally (hopefully) be healthy.
The one saving grace of this period in the wilderness is that he was darn young when he fought Usyk. He still has time to make some kind of impression on the division, but he needs direction.
Maybe he has another job that makes him good money, so instead of training hard in gym everyday and getting punched in the face , he is doing his other job.
Why does he continue to work with a poor promoter? He is a top Elite fighter he could easily get a better promoter. Why doesn't he sign up with Klimas?
