I paid $0 because it was on free-to-air cable in this country! 40 vs 32 it was always on the cards that it would go down this way
Whilst I don't think this was anywhere near as bad as some folks are making out, it was also nowhere close to the high-level we got in the first 2. GGG should hang 'em up IMO. Canelo might not have too long left either - he gassed heavily, even though it wasn't exactly like GGG was putting him under tons of pressure. Right now not sure how well GGG does against any of the champs @160 now - maybe Charlo would be favourite now, and I know that Janibek is not tested in deep waters, but this old and slow Golovkin could have a long night with either on this showing. I'm also not too sure how Canelo does if he defends @168 against Benavidez, let alone a Bivol rematch (I know Bivol has to get past Zurdo first, but I think Zurdo is too slow to really tax Bivol)
Great post saved me the time to post the same opinion, Old or not he didn't even try or change up in any obvious way stated my thousands of people since their last fight, Kind of like at the end of their First Fight where in the post fight he had the same Pleased Expression written all over his face with the fact that he got a Draw & this meant him keeping his belts, even tonight saying that it was a high level contested fight when it really wasn't, Kind of embarrassing & i felt bad for him both times.
Charlo would have been considered a Favorite regardless of this match, its kind of why Golovkin stopped challenging himself since the 2nd Canelo fight while fighting mediocre quality if that, With Canelo it wouldn't be in the realm of impossibility that he cannot beat Bivol, it can be achieved but obviously he would have to fight a very disciplined fight.
He wasn't so bad Pimp, it's just that Canelo didn't need to push more due to Golovkin bringing nothing of stress.
Nah it was a very good fight. Canelo thought he could walk through GGG, so he emptied it all in the first half. His stamina is fine, he just didn’t pace himself. Golovkin did the opposite, he paced himself and brought it home strong. I can’t believe there are people who think it was a one-sided fight. It was as close as the others. Once again, people listen to commentary instead of using their own eyes and brain. The commentary is always atrocious, but today.. Mora needs to go.
I didn't think any of the fights they fought were wars, so it would of been surprising if this one was. I haven't seen the 3rd fight yet, but their previous 2 fights were mostly tactical.
Expectations.. I wasn’t expecting anything until today, and it was a far better fight than I anticipated.
Does everyone forget who Canelo is? I’m a fan, but do we forget how he looked against guys like Jacobs? He throws to hurt, so he gets tired. This isn’t new, and I thought he looked great coming back from a loss.
I think age, familiarity with each other's style and too much respect for their opponent were all factors.
