GGG indicated he will not be retiring, and that he intends to return to 160 to defend his MW titles. Since this was his last fight with DAZN, he now is a free agent has an opportunity to fight whoever at MW. Now, to me, this presents an interesting opportunity for GGG to revive his career in his 40s and prove he still has a lot left as a MW Champion. Do you think GGG could move over to PBC now that his DAZN contract is done? The fight that I would like to see next is GGG vs Lara. Both fighters have MW Titles and I think would be a great test for each guy who will both be in their 40s by next year but both are still great fighters. That fight makes a lot of sense for both fighters at this stage.
He will fight a long list of tomato cans, bums, cab drivers, and busboys. GGG needs and wants a large retirement fund. He will avoid viable opposition as long as possible.
If GGG goes on to beat someone like a Lara or get another quality win or two, it will confirm how good he still is in his 40s and evicerate the idea that he's shot that is being used to discredit what Canelo just did to him. So for both GGG and Canelo's sake, it's important for GGG to continue and successfully defend his MW titles against quality opposition which I believe he's still capable of doing.
That would be a good match-up on paper and quite interesting, although the other side is that it will be quite boring IMHO. I think we are more likely to see Munguia or CEJ, they are #2 and #3 on boxrec and both quite winnable for an old GGG. John Ryder is another potential opponent. I don't think CEJ or Ryder do much for GGG's legacy, but from a risk/reward perspective they definitely make sense.
The feather fisted ginger midget was backing GGG up… young CHRIS puts his fist right through him and stops him.
