Who out of the following do you think could knock out George Chuvalo and Oliver McCall?

Tyson has a great chance of stopping both.
Lennox maybe too.
It's an hard question tho.

I still don't think it can be done.

 

A huge host of contenders have never tasted the canvas. Among champs I'm pretty sure only Vitali and McCall were never knocked *down amateur or pro.

McCall was Tyson's sparring partner for a long time. I know there is a difference between the training gloves and pro gloves but i am not sure if he could stop him in a professional match either.

 

I suppose it depends as well what frame of mind Mccall is in. If he's hyped up, no way is he getting stopped, if he comes in as he did against Bruno, then hes gonna get hammered.

According to McCall, they sparred 300 rounds and Tyson never put him down. But McCall says he managed to put Tyson down once.

Those would be my picks as well. You want a hard hitting combo puncher. Both fit the bill nicely.

 

There is a clip on you tube where Mccall spars with Tyson head gear on and Mccall turns his back wincing after a nasty body shot. while Tyson lets him walk it off....in the Ring he would get Tko'd.

McCall / Tua went in survival mode after getting rattled real hard vs top tier opposition............if they would have fought to win instead of the silent agreement they would have gotten counted out or Tko'd.

 

Good point re McCall being more defensively minded. The most I’ve seen Ollie rocked was during moments against Bruno and Seldon.

Though he tried to keep his chin down and tucked, Chuvalo was so much more hittable - in a way, having his chin tested more frequently. Tbh, it’s a bit disturbing watching some Chuvalo fights given how often and how flush he was hit.

McCall has a mighty chin anyway, but he definitely didn’t just stick his chin out for shits and giggles. Even in the Lewis rematch, when Ollie dropped tools and wasn’t throwing he was still mindful enough to walk in circles at a distance and turn his head with incoming punches. Lewis for his part wasn’t offloading 100% since he was bemused as we all were with McCall’s “quiet” No Mas.

For his part vs Foreman, Chuvalo may well have held his feet to see the 3rd round out but it was irrefutably correct to stop the fight. Even if a fighter manages to remain upright, if he’s not throwing and taking huge punch after huge punch, you’ve got to stop it.

Fighters with the best chance would have to carry not only a big punch, but also have the skill and speed to accurately send home multiple howitzer shots in quick time - allowing no time for recuperation or defensively shelling up.

I see Joe Louis and Mike Tyson have already been mentioned and they really appear to be the ideal examples (more Louis imo) of the type of fighter required to do the job - if in fact it can be done.

Of course there is still GF, not as efficient a puncher but still possessing more than sufficient off the charts power to tag these guys like they’d never been tagged before - as GF in fact did vs Chuvalo.

Finally, that much less of a chance but there is also prime Joe Frazier. Now if Joe isn’t getting rocked himself, he could soften these guys up by way of attrition and still carry the power and ability to deliver that power incessantly in the latter stages of a fight - and Joe additionally provides for a nice mix of offence by way of assaults to both head and body (like Louis).
