This deserves a bump because it's the truth. Posters can rip on Lampley all they please for being biased or whatnot, but the reference to Soto being DQ'ed wasn't a knock on Margo at all, as you mentioned.
I noticed this as well. Lampley was blatanly nuthugging Cotto all night. It almost got to the point were I wanted to turnb the sound down and jst watch it on mute. How many times did you hear Lampley talk about Cotto landing all the effective punches or how he has the much harder punch. It's the result of the punch that matters not what it looks like. Cotto was hitting Margorito flush and he was just walking right through them. That's not an effective punch! Margorito on the other hand was pounding on Cotto with punches that were staying with him. From the sixth round on Cotto's face looked like it came out of a Rocky movie. I saw an "I hate Lampley express thread" on here onch and I say we revive it. This guy is pathetic and I'll still watch HBO boxing because they have the best fights but he needs to be replaced.
Wow you floyd mayweather fans sure show up in force when called to arms,,,,lamply sucks, ha ha ha ha. guys about as nice as you can get, show nothing buy respect, an try to be honest,,,,well i sure after mayweather bull**** statements, this kind of thread willpop up after every fight on HBO....****ING CRYBABYS
Nicely typed. Lets form a union all us true fight fans to ****-can all these vaginal bitchez, shall we?
I disagree, I don't think he should be fired. I still like his commentary. But he does cheerlead sometimes, and this was a very bad example of it for him. Cotto did box beautifully for several rounds, but Lampley was still waxing lyrical about it and Margarito "landing nothing of substance" well into the 9th and 10th rounds, which was just ludicrously wrong. Whenever they traded shots, Lampley would tend to call Cotto's shot and ignore Margarito's as well, which is another pet peeve of mine. Reminded me a bit of Showtime's commentary for Holyfield-Ruiz I, where if they both landed shots at the same time Czyz would always mention Ruiz landing and not Holyfield.
