It is a sad development we are witnessing. Think of the undercards Matchroom had on Sky Box Office a few years ago where there were several good fights below the main event. Those days are over.
Looking at current trajectory of cards, perhaps the glory days of Matchroom are well and truly behind us and our expectations need to be more realistic. We see much better cards on Channel 5, BT Sports, Sky Sports and occasionally on Boxnation these days. Boxing will always be bigger than any single promoter and Matchroom leaving Sky Sports has seriously damaged their brand.
I always criticise Matchroom when they deserve it. I just don't **** on everything they do and their boxers like some do on here.
They can get t'... with that price. Hearn must secretly regret leaving SKY now. I already think that Boxxer are ahead of Matchroom. Something that would have been unthinkable 3-5 years ago.
Definitely. I don’t think it will do badly, but on Sky PPV and their push it would have done big numbers
The recommended retail price for Tony Bellew's autobiography is 19.99 . I'd rather spend money on that OK maybe not.
...but the fight is going to sell. People who don't normally follow pro boxing are interested in this fight. I think DAZN UK can expect good PPV sales figures.
I’m sick to death of these poor undercards. I’m in 2 minds whether this fight sells in huge numbers or not. I have a feeling that they’ve over estimated the drawing power for both these 2.
