Joyce 271 Parker 255

Parker has always been a bigger guy than he’s credited as being- will never be the tallest, longest or most aesthetic but he’s a thicc Samoan boi. I mean put it in perspective, he’s in the same weight range as a flabby Tyson Fury or a maximally buffed AJ without being as visibly fat as the former or muscular as the latter at the same weight, and being far shorter.

However - whatever the scale says, he simply does not have the attributes to physically bully big heavyweights, so coming in heavy just doesn’t do anything for him. It seems like a nonsensical choice against Joyce in particular. Surely he doesn’t think he’s going to wear down Joyce in a battle of attrition? Maybe he thinks that he’ll be faster than Joyce no matter how heavy he gets, that his gas tank will still fade no matter how light he gets, so he might as well bulk up to improve his chances of withstanding the shots that Joyce will inevitably land?

 

Or maybe for all the bluster and the Instagram posts he just hasn’t been disciplined and is simply out of shape

 

Extra weight is so Joyce isn't able to bully and muscle him around as easily. Parker is going to be a sharpshooter like he always his but a more aggressive one - that's the plan anyways.

Yep, but for everything I just said about JP being a big guy, 255 seems to me to be outside the range of weights that he should ever be carrying really. Above about 245 for him I just think he’s overweight.

 

I think it's a bit too much as well.

 

Parker looks too heavy. Hopefully it's not going to impact things too much.

This is going to be a very close fight. Round by round there won’t be all that much in it.

I do think that the judges will side with Parker. Parker is very adept at doing enough to steal rounds fought at a slow pace. Joyce often doesn’t look very good despite being effective, and I suspect the judges will favour the cleaner puncher.

 

Ill be at Sea World tommorow with my daughter but i will be watching, hopefully scoring in the RBR as well
