Only if Joyce just walks in throwing shots without abandon which is highly unlikely as he has said that he will need to fight differently. We will see a return to the more cautious Joyce who relies more on his jab and moves more as we saw vs DDD and Jennings after he was hurt to the body.

Usually I'd be inclined to agree, but Joyce is so damn slow that even the likes of Hammer lands at will. I'd rate Parker much higher than that, and I'd think that Andy Lee and Tyson Fury would have helped him a lot in terms of preparation. Parker just needs to slip that jab, pop in an uppercut and Bob back out again.

I agree it's unlikely Joyce will employ Wlad tactics, but you never know. It's definitely a weak spot for Parker and if Joyce started using it he would have great success.

Elite slow-fast speed fighters typically have much denser bones and obviously thicker craniums too.

Slow-fast speed fighters are typically some of the most formidable, toughest and most iron-jawed, and best punchers in the history of the sport

    Joyce 14-0 KO 92%
    Foreman 76-5 KO 83%
    Vitali 45-2 KO 87%
    Marciano 49-0 KO 87%
    GGG 42-2-1 KO 82%
    Monzon 87-3-9-1 KO 59%
    Froch 33-2 KO 68%
    Hrgovic 15-0 KO 80%
    Zhang 24-1-1 KO 73%

Joyce, Vitali, GGG never been down as a pro

Hrgovic technically has once but that was a back of the mind cuffing pull you over shot on a slippery part of the canvas and the ref shouldn't have counted it

Foreman was only dropped 4 times IIRC and two of them were due to exhaustion

Marciano was only dropped twice, both times to greats who were very big punchers

Monzon was only dropped twice in 1oo fights

    Froch was only dropped twice

    Zhang only been down once

Foreman only lost twice in his prime and it took a GOAT to beat him in one of those losses, his other three

Vitali only lost through injury and cuts and he was winning both those fights

    Marciano never lost

GGG should be undefeated and the only arguable loss occurred when he was 40 and shot to bits

Monzon went undefeated in his last 88 fights

Froch only lost to a great and a serial cheat who spends more time hugging, butting, elbowing, punching low and spoiling than he does actually boxing

    Hrgovic is undefeated

    Zhang has one loss

A combined record of 385 wins and just 14 losses between them and 4 of those losses occurred after the age of 40 when they were shot and their slow-fast speed was greatly diminished, one was a straight robbery, one was due to a serious injury, and one was due to a terrible cut

And a just a mere 3 inside the distance defeats between them which is staggering but it's even more staggering when you factor in one was on a cut and one of the remaining 2 was due to a very serious shoulder injury and the remaining one was to a GOAT who along with Tyson Fury is the joint HW GOAT

    Slow-fast speed>>

With Joyce being so upright he isn't as susceptible to the uppercut as Chisora. If Parker can slip the jab he'd do better to arc and OH right first much like Povetkin did against AJ as Joyce is more susceptible to the right hands as we saw vs Hammer and Takam.

You make it sound so easy but the reality is it's far from easy. You're talking about a hypothetical Parker that doesn't exists, one that can slip the jab, one that has the foot work to bounce in and out. Parker hasn't shown any of this, he isn't Usyk. I hope for you, that Parker does show a completely different skill set because what he has shown previously won't be enough in my opinion.

Dubois, Takam, Hammer and others all hit Joyce flush many times

Why would Parker have trouble doing so?

In those fights Joyce had no respect for their power and no respect for them in general so took risks he wouldn't with Parker.

Now I'm not saying, Joyce will suddenly become a heavyweight Pernell Whitaker but it's evident in his fights with Jennings and Dubois he fights differently when he respects his opponents. He doesn't just plow forward recklessly and get caught, he isn't willing to take shots to land his own, he's far more tactical. He moves, he works behind his jab, he moves his head a lot more.

Fury got caught flush by Pajkic, Cunningham and Chisora, yet barely took a shot against Whyte or Wlad. Some fighters don't just fight one way, they adjust tactics based on their opponent and based on the perceived threat. If you think Joyce is just going to come out swinging like he did vs Hammer and Takam then your in for a shock.

As for Dubois, yeah he landed some hard shots but his success was sporadic, he spent a lot of the fight on the end of Joyce's jab. Parker too will no doubt have some success but I think it will be sporadic too, he's going to eat jabs all night and his odd moments of success won't be enough against the sheer volume of Joyce. He'll simply not land enough quality shots to sway the judges against the sheer work rate of Joyce.

parker has all the ability to win, but he himself is incomplete. its hard to predict outcomes with incomplete fighters. im not sold on his determination in combat. one thing this fight will tell me is how good a coach hes got. joyce is slow enough and predictable enough for a trainer who knows what hes doing to prepare an uncomplicated strategy. im gonna go with parker, mainly because he lacks less than joyce as a package.
