I'd say there is a betting chance it'll happen. Haven't heard from Dwyer yet

I will pay $89 to see Fury vs AJ-Dosser though.
    AJ finished after that

Yeah, we'll never see a 50$PPV again. I wouldn't pay it anyways cuz a 50$PPV would be a mismatch..... is there a word that's worse than a mismatch? Forgone conclusion maybe?

Well, for the pleasure of seeing the golden balloon (AJ) popping, it's worth paying it on the other hand, we use to say that the pleasure has no price.

I don’t get the logic. You don’t like AJ but you will fatten his pocket as a farewell? When I dislike a fighter I don’t pay to watch him. Paying to watch him only tells promoter to put him on more PPV even with loses.

Way back in the day in the U.S. they did monthly PPVs from HBO called TVKO that were at a $20 price point. It catered to the hardcore fans. It wasn’t mega fights like Leonard-Hearns or even Duran-Hagler but guys who weren’t quite PPV attractions (o maybe the A side was but the fight itself wasn’t quite that level) and they’d put together good cards.

I think some of their offerings were Michael Moorer-Bert Cooper, Ray Mercer-Tommy Morrison, Thomas Hearns-Virgil Hill … PPV-worthy fights but not at the higher price point you’d get for a MAJOR fight. HBO did the bigger ones too (like Holyfield-Foreman) at the higher price point but this was monthly fare on one Friday night per month IIRC.

Of course purses were scaled to price and the smaller buying audience, and I think it carried on to have some of Roy Jones Jr’s light heavyweight defenses and such, probably lasted a decade or so.

Nowadays, those type bouts are on streaming mostly and you have to pay something (mainly a monthly subscriber fee) and usually they don’t make the main event quite as attractive.

No in the olympics he just got lucky.

Aiba give the same amount of ranking points to the winner of each continental championship which is nonsense.
A European champion, a asian champion (usually kazakhstan or uzbek) and an americas champion (usually cuban) will generally be way superior to the african champion but they all get the same ranking points for winning it.

Wilder had the blind luck of being drawn with the african who had a high seed, meaning he didnt have to fight anyone good until the semi finals. And then he got embarrassed.
    No corruption,just lots of luck

It’s the classic pro wrestling approach — you want a heel (bad guy) who people will pay to see get beat up and get his comeuppance and a babyface (good guy) who people will cheer.

In some rare cases (early Ali, AJ) you get both dynamics in one guy. Ali had an audience that adored him and supported him and a different audience that wanted to see him get his block knocked off. AJ is still (somewhat) revered in the UK but disliked by a lot of others. So they draw both sides.

I understand the draw part , I just find it funny to hate a guy but at the same time fatten his wallet.

75 bucks seems to be the new standard price for PPVs now, with the biggest fights being 100 or even a little more.

If the fight was in my backyard, I'd go to the toilet and take and extremely long dump. Like 1 hour or more.

I would pay not a penny more than $10 to see this fight, and that is given inflation.

Exactly!!! They complain about PPV's then go buy it regardless. If fans stopped buying the garbage fights at elevated prices they'd have to do something to survive. What with this & the corruption in the sport its on its last legs
