Prime Povetkin vs Ray Mercer

I agree. Two guys with a ton of heart and durability who could both crack. I think that Alexander Povetkin was a better boxer however and also more disciplined. I’m leaning towards him winning a decision.

One of my favourite fights is Larry Holmes Vs Ray Mercer. Holmes dominated Mercer and gave him a boxing lesson for which Mercer had no response.

 

Overall I'd favour Ray Mercer in this one against Alexander Povetkin great match up both Olympic Gold Medalists. I think Mercer overall had a better chin and skill set than Povetkin and was way more competitive in bigger fights. During Alexander Povetkin Vs Wladimir Klitschko, Povetkin didn't really rise the to the occasion. However don't get me wrong Povetkin is a dangerous opponent as he demonstrated against David Price who was savagely knocked out and the first Dillian Whyte fight. I see either a knockout or late stoppage by Mercer or a dull unanimous decision for Mercer while Povetkin tries to hold him like he's his girlfriend for 12
Rounds.

I agree, I don't think it would be competitive.

 

It might be competitive, but Povetkin was a lot more consistent.
