Can any heavyweight from history realistically beat Tyson Fury?

At what point does one stop being a novice? I’d imagine 10 title defenses is a reasonable starting point.

    **** thread.

I love Fury but he has had near-runs with McDermott, Wilder, Wallin, and the Cunningham fight was a tough one. That ain't murderer's row. So a lot of guys would have a chance.

Many could, but not as many probably would.

Well it’s been said already more or less.

I don’t know that it can be asked if anyone “realistically” beats Fury when Fury himself hasn’t been 100% realistically proven - at least not as well proven as some of the ATGs who can be reasoned to beat him.

Talking about contemporaries duly fighting each other these days is almost like discussing fantasy fights like Ali vs Louis that are never going to happen. A poor state of affairs.

Too much to expect that Fury at least fight Usyk (A MUST) then AJ for a better picture of the Gypsy King? Apparently so - instead, the outcome defaults to a hypothetical and likely “paper” credit for Tyson if these fights don’t come off - careers built on minimal manifest results , fleshed out by assumptions otherwise.
    Wonderful.

When I used to fight under the name "Danglin" Dabney Coleman, a lot of people said that I was no good and I couldn't beat Fury either. Just because that didn't turn out to be false doesn't mean people should have up and said stuff like that to my face. It affected my confidence and maybe that was the only reason I wasn't any good.

    Except it isn’t.

Not to any knowledgeable fight fan.

Look at the guys who’s given Tyson issues.

Look at the guys who’ve dropped him.

Yet one of the greatest and most skilled HW’s of all time, who had some fantastic attributes, probably wouldn’t have laid a glove of him?

    STFU.

Only an absolute simpleton would believe such a thing.

Which is why that it’s no surprise at all that these are your thoughts.

Your opinion isn't the truth. You can't call anything in hypothetical matchup "the truth".

All of the guys who gave Fury problems moved way better than Joe Louis.
And Louis was only good for his era, he'd get destroyed by ATG HWs from the past 3 decades.
Plus, Fury won't just stand there like those dumb oafs Louis used to fight in his era, like Buddy Baer and co. Fury will move and stomp Louis every time he comes close.

He has gotten better, it seems. But he must fight Usyk or Joshua within his next two fights. And then the other one. These guys have to get the **** in there and do it, not milk it bull****.

Yes, make him Usyk's size and I think he's be relatively ordinary. Still very clever and mentally resilient of course but with holes in fundamentals that it would be much harder to get away with.

But on the other hand I think the holes in his game are because of his size and down to him being ungainly, it's not very often you see a poised and elegant giant.

I think this underestimates the impact of such a transformation [from 6'9" (85" Reach) to 6'3" (78" Reach)] on the style of transformed boxer and, in this case, perhaps does not do justice to the mental facets the Fury's game.

I'd suggest that, regardless of his physical dimensions, Fury would still likely be the smartest, most able and unorthodox tactician that Usyk had met.
