The IBO became a legitimate strap when Prince Patel fought and lost to Michell Banquez for the Bantam belt just over three years ago.
He's earned nothing close to his Old man. Chris senior, at one point, would have been richer than the Hearns, Benn's and Eubanks combined. He was seriously chunked.
ok pal yeah Jack Massey , Maxi Hughes and Lerrone Richards should be households names right now for holding that prestigous world title.
Held also by Lewis and W.Klitschko et al. Very important belt. Now or recently held by that random guy Golovkin.
yeah I agree its very important. Slightly above the WBC . Everyone dreams of a vacant title shot at the IBO title at Bolton whites hotel, live on fightzone.
If you can dream about your Chinese takeaway and six pack of Carlsberg then why can’t a boxer dream of becoming the world champion?
The IBO is similar to football's European Nations League Trophy which is seen as total Minnie Mouse compared to the World Cup and Euro Finals
I meant it as in from a legacy point of you. He has hardly been in any wars. Fights that fans will rewatch in 10, 20 years time. Unlike his dad. But if his sole purpose was to make money then yeah, he's been managed well. If it's to create a legacy and go down as a great, then no he hasn't.
Great argument in support of the IBO title. You must also be a huge fan of the Connor Benn v Eubank Junior Inter Non Title belt as well.
He stepped up 3 times at world level. Lost to BJS and Groves. But beat DeGale, who although very much at the end of his career and couldn’t pull the trigger. It was still a decent win, and resume wise is the best win.
I agree with this. They've used his name well to cherry pick opponents & mostly got that right. Just shows the difference having a famous dad can make when you compare him to someone like Martin Murray who had to carve his own opportunities out. That's just the way boxing is. That said, I enjoyed (most of) his fights. He battered O'Sullivan, Blackwell and Chudinov. Iced Yildirim which was impressive. Took BJS right to the wire, and even though he was outboxed pretty much rough housed Groves into retirement. I think he's dodged the genuine talent like your GGG's but arguably his dad avoided one or two as well. It's just about navigating your career to earn maximum money and if your career is getting punched in the head then probably best to do that on a path of least resistance if possible.
