That's why I think they may have been pushing for the early date. Fury has had plenty time to fill up on his spinach but with Joshua fighting Usyk not long back his window of opportunity is a lot shorter
Not comparable. AJ only fought those opponents once. We can argue about how good they were at the time but we didn't know how the stylistic matchup would play out until they fought, so there is at least a level of interest. Fury will have fought Derek 3 times. He is exactly the same Derek from the last fight only a bit less fit, and a bit slower, with a lesser chin and Fury has also improved.
There is a worthwhile comparison to be considered, as all opponents are duds, though I do side with you in your thoughts. I would rather see Fury batter Molina or someone hopeless for the same reasons. The only potential enjoyment I could derive from this is seeing Chisora get sparked, but I have a feeling it will be timid.
He'll hurt him and do a professional number on him. We've seen that Fury doesn't take friendship in there with him, the payday itself is the buddy gesture. If Chisora can stay upright from the harder, sharper shots and keep absorbing the punishment, pulling a few punches and motioning to the referee (in Ali fashion) is as nice as Fury will be. He'll be looking to give Joe Casual a recent point of comparison with Usyk, who somewhat labored in going the distance with Chisora a couple years ago, besides.
It's a dreadful fight yea but in fairness to Fury I think he tried to make the AJ fight with a 60/40 split and when team AJ stalled on the contract he told them where to go. They said all along the alternative was a run out for Fury and that's what this is. Easy fight and a few quid in the bank. The good news is he's nowhere to go after this but Usyk. I see Fury fighting Usyk and AJ in 2023 and this will be forgotten about but real boxing fans aren't going to buy this, nor will a large percentage of casuals. It's the easiest fight/highest payday ratio fight out there.
I think there's a lot of nonsense talked about Fury and the AJ fight. Fury made the 60-40 offer as if it was a mandatory fight with a standard contract - and none of the commercial baggage that comes with AJ. Warren said on IFL yesterday, "Joshua was the B-side against Usyk" as if that means he drops all his commitments without some legal protection... AJ and Usyk took weeks to sign, and a lot of it would have been agreed after the first fight anyway. To think it could all be settled in a few days because Fury rants about it, is deluded.
I hope Fury demolishes Chisora, stops him faster than Haye. No one wants to watch Fury dance around and clown Chisora for 10+ rounds, or worse go the distance.
Amazed Fury has made this fight. Utterly pointless. May as well have a sparring session instead. Knocks Chisora out when he wants. Supposed to be a world champ but this is a load of rubbish.
If this is to be on BT Sports Box Office then it will require an absolutely fantastic undercard with 3 - 4 50/50 fights because the main event is terrible. Tyson Fury is a big name but how does BT Sports intend to sell such a sportingly uninteresting fight ?
