Deontay Wilder believes a bout with Anthony Joshua is still "the number one fight in the world" as he prepares to make his return to action on Saturday.

Wilder, 36, last fought a year ago and faces Robert Helenius in New York on his comeback.

The heavyweight's goal is to become world champion again, but Wilder also has big plans for a bout against Britain's Joshua.

"I would love to do that fight in Africa," he told BBC Sport.

"It's still the number one fight in the world for everyone. Everywhere I go, people always talk about me versus Joshua."

There have been several classic heavyweight encounters in Africa, including Muhammad Ali's fight with George Foreman in Kinshasa in 1974.

Eddie won't let Aj near him, he will low ball Wilder again and sycophants will accuse wilder of ducking

They should do this in Black History Month, in Africa, with all African sponsors and financiers and all the profits going to African populations.
    Wouldn't that be amazing?

I'm sure Joshua and Wilder, champions of their peoples, fighters for justice, wouldn't just take tens of millions back to 'The West' to spend on themselves, while complaining about their evil hosts?

We just have to work out whether the Boers driven off their farms and now living in poverty count as poor Africans? Or are they too privileged to get any of the charity from this fight?

If that's true then why did they refuse to even discuss a potential future bout when Hearn reached recently out about a possible fight, saying they were solely focused on Helenius. Doesn't sound like they are focused solely on Helenius with Wilder talking about Joshua at every opportunity.

Rule of the heavyweight division. If you start talking about your next opponent you'll get KO'd by your current opponent.

Joshua V Helenius in Nigeria 2023 it is.

I guess it's cool he's talking about it? He should be focused on Helenius though.

Forget about Joshua, he will live on his old glory from now on, there is no way the fight with Wilder will happen...

    All bark no bite.

Both Wilder & AJ are over managed manufactured BUMS. Wilder has a legit gift though, meanwhile AJ although a little more balanced as a fighter has no gifts which is why Wilder would put his fist through him.

    Fury all bark all bite
    Usyk all moew all bite
    Joyce no bark all bite
