Marshall is skilled enough to land on Shields and she actually can punch. Shields will get busted up and possibly stopped.
UD, really? You're being very optimistic. Well, I'm not..... Marshall is going to knock Shields unconscious. ALthough I agree with the rest of your assessment.
Even if Marshal wins, I doubt it will silence Shields, that woman loves to talk trash. As for the fight, I'm favouring Marshall but am expecting a competitive fight. I think the big edge Shields has is speed, she'll be able to dart in and out the long reach of Marshall to land her punches. Problem she has is she has so little on her punches and she'll no doubt be taking hard counters at times and she can't stay in the pocket because Marshall is adept inside for a tall fighter and her power will take over in the exchanges, so Marshall has to get out to a safe range. I expect Shields to do well early but Marshall will break her down and take over in the 2nd half of the fight and maybe even stop her. But I think Shields will be defensively good enough to see the final bell and lose a competitive but clear decision. Hopefully we get a fight that lives up to the hype and maybe even see demand for a rematch if it's close.
Ya i defintiely can see that but with those 2 minute rounds and Shields mentality i think Shields probably gonna survive the round somehow. I'd be way more confident in a TKO if they'd fight 3 minute rounds.
There is a clear route to a Marshall points win for me. Her previous fights show that Marshall's 'normal' (not going for a ko) punches have enormous cumulative effect. After a few rounds of Marshall's near male-grade artillery, Shields could be a much diminished and slowed fighter in which case Marshall could simply outpoint her. Reading between the lines it seems to me that Marshall's preferred scenario is to display her skills for a few rounds and show that she is the better boxer, then proceed to batter Shields and stop her.
As Marshall says, she doesn't seem to need 3 minute rounds to get stoppages. Marshall is so laidback outside the ring that I think some people still dont quite credit how vicious she can be inside it. If she gets to a position of being able to unload heavy shots on Shields she will be both savage and cool- she really knows how to go for the kill.
