Well it was a case of waiting out not aging out. Floyd was scared stiff of the Pacquiao who dealt with Cotto...Floyd didn't want to know about either of them two men back in 08/09.

Pacquiao aged quicker, hit his Filipino menopause got chinned by roidquez and Floyd was like, yeah I can take him now.

Pacquiao's style was always going to regess badly.

Pacquiao even then was regressed, pretty sure he ended with more than 70 fights in total, baring the Marquez 6 round KO, i believe the Margarito fight took something out of him thereafter plus with being a congressman/senator while juggling Boxing as a part time gig that was the true downfall.

The thing is, Pacquiao used the same blueprint Floyd did, he was just not as clever about it. He waited until Mosely nearly gave Margarito brain damage, then came off a suspension only to win a totally bogus strap before Pacquiao beat him at a catchweight for that same strap... then went on to wait until Floyd destroyed Mosley (after Floyd waiting out Mosely) to then fight Shane. IMO both guys were bad for that but you see the pattern; guys who do this tend to make the most money.

 

Make the fight happen before Ennis possibly takes over the division.

Lies again! Cotto team turned down Mayweather @ 140. Cotto team used his best friend and sparring partner to measure Mayweather. His name was Henry Bruseles. His style was the exact same as Cotto, and Mayweather washed him. After that, they said Cotto was not ready. Pac didn't want to do the drug testing saying he don't like needles in 2009. If he did the testing, the fight would have happened. So, Mayweather didn't wait out. Pac held the fight up.
